Blue-whiskered stormlets, unlike their relatives the common stormlet, are entirely aquatic and lack a terrestrial stage. These fish are evolved from the weatherfish. They can still gulp air due to their water being very low quality, murky and lacking in oxygen at least during the flooded part of the year. stormlets also have a wide, flattened tail which assists them in darting quickly away to avoid predators such as fishing owls {they have no marimares in their habitat.} They make their home in Adlesia's largest river, in the shallows amongst the shade of the mediterannean anabasis and gnimblegrasses. As carnivores they will feed on anything living they can fit in their mouth, including carrion, invertebrates, eggs, and fry. The whiskers of water stormlets are exceptionally long and used for navigation and prey detection in addition to attracting a mate- in mid summer the males will swim to the surface and flicker their iridescent barbels. These fish have limited eyesight and are attracted to the shininess of the whiskers rather than the color. The female's whiskers lack these colorations. After mating, the eggs are deposited in small hidden places and the parents provide no further parental care. Blue whiskered stormlets are also highly active during thunderstorms.
