Description
This large gremloid is a creature of the night, shying away from bright lights and inhabiting the very deepest parts of the cedar/fir forests. They feed exclusively on splendour beetles and grubs which it digs out of the trees with its long fingers. elongated limbs assist in leaping along from tree to tree and modified toes with tough toe pads help grip branches with needles. pale coloration during winter helps it blend in with the snow but during summer turns a dusky blue grey and pinkish brown to help camouflage during the day as it sleeps, gripping a branch with its hands so as not to loose balance while resting. ghostlinds are capable of leaping great distances and often defend themselves with kicking when captured.
Their fur grows incredibly soft and thick to help insulate them from the winter snow, where they change their diets to conifer's leaves and seeds pried out from the cones. In the summers it still gets very hot, so they are also skinnier to help dissipate heat at that time. Males are significantly larger than females with a fluffier nape of their neck, and are also distinct in behavior- while females travel in small groups together with their offspring holding onto their backs, the males are solitary and nomadic, wandering looking for females during the summer and autumn to mate with. When he finds a group he may stay with them briefly until the offspring are born, defending the females from rival males but abandoning them to raise their litters alone for the remainder of the year.
