Description
Shoggoths are large, amorphous and amoeba-like. They can form mouths, eyes, and various appendages at will. They were genetically designed by an ancient race of alien life on Earth. Originally aquatic in nature, the shoggoths learned to live on land and eventually destroyed their ancient masters.βWe were on the track ahead as the nightmare plastic column of foetid black iridescence oozed tightly onward through its fifteen-foot sinus; gathering unholy speed and driving before it a spiral, re-thickening cloud of the pallid abyss-vapour. It was a terrible, indescribable thing vaster than any subway trainβa shapeless congeries of protoplasmic bubbles, faintly self-luminous, and with myriads of temporary eyes forming and unforming as pustules of greenish light all over the tunnel-filling front that bore down upon us," -H.P. Lovecraft, At the Mountains of Madness

Would I be able to use this specific image as a reference to the Shoggoth on a wiki article?

Yep, that's definitely something that would drive one insane, espcially as you've included human figures to give scale. One of the best depictions of these ghastly creatures I've seen.

I once jokingly thought about forming a Shoggoth Rights Committee
then I saw what they looked like and I changed my mind

We try, in the vague and desperate attempts that sentient life must, to understand and see and describe the horrors before us. We attempt, driven by the human condition, to comprehend the sights that befoul our eyes, images that corrupt the very air they are conveyed by and that pervert the minds of those they infect like a cancerous and infected wound.
What you have drawn is not a shoggoth--it as an insane attempt to capture in art what is impossible to capture, to show an image that scratches at the mind and claws at the sanity in a wretched and horrific way.
I can hear it. May any blessed god that cares to listen to this save me, but I can hear it singing at me.

I seen a lot of Shogoths over the years and this one if one of my clear favorites, I really like the way you gave it lots of tentacles, eyes and other organic organs while retaining an realistic alien feel withouth making it look too comic bookish.
Great work on the background as well.

VERY COOL work! And I'm presuming this is at the Mountains of Madness too! Awesomeness! (since there are three figures running I'm presuming as well that the other expedition wasn't put off by the good professor's tale! HA! )
