I found a sketch from over a month ago, and decided to colored it. //tears.I hope it has a warm feel to it; happy holidays, everyone!

This picture is very nice- the colors are very warm and inviting, like autumn, or a glass of hot mulled apple cider. You feel very comfortable looking at this picture.

I drew it on paper, sketched in the shading, and then added the color hues on paint tool SAI.

Eh...It's eye pleasing, but not really DD worthy. (Not to be an ass). It's just a regular old anime girl with lots of shine and textures and filters on it. Without the layers and the glossy stuff thrown all over the place, it would look decent at best.
Still cute I guess, but nothing extremely mind blowing.

I would never thought this would be a DD because honestly I like digital painting better, and this was just a sketch that I decided to color and upload for the holiday season. I would have preferred something that I put more effort into, such as drawings with a lot of detail, interesting background, innovating concept, etc. I'm not sure why Nyiana-sama chose it (since, of course, a DD is chosen by the gallery mods, not a voting system of deviants or special art critics), but her opinion is what determines the DDs in this category. Thank you for your opinion, though I already know the stuff that you said. The DD system is one that many people deem a bit skewed, or inappropriate for worthy DDs, but in the end of it, it's a 24 hour feature. I've seen various artwork receive this feature, but I know it was the mod, and not the artist who went for this result. I don't bother telling them about the "worthiness" of their artwork---they probably know it already on the inside, or at least, the other people telling them.

I've never used the dodge tool before 
I just color parts of the picture brightly to make things stand out. I do use overlay layers for some of the foreground strokes.
