Description
NOTE :: MORE QUESTION UPDATEQ : Where can I get copic markers? Do you have any recommended place?
A : There are several places selling Copic markers. You may check out you local art stores. Or as *SheCow recommendation, go browsing on Ebay. Ebay has more choices and probably sometimes has a very surprised deal! Check it out!
NEWS :: As mentions, "you can get copics from dickblick.com at a discount whereas buying them else where. (discount is at most 40% of the actual cost of copics)
Q : Copic markers are still expensive, Any brand do you recommend with a lower price?
A : Even though Copic markers are the best one for me, I admit that the price is still high. For some of you who want to use other brands, I recommend Neopiko from DELETER. These markers work pretty well and easy to blend like Copic markers (not 100% but yeah, still good enough to use!). And of course they come out with good price. But just keep in mind that Neopiko might hard to find on stores compare with Copic. So if you're interested, check 'em online. Yo!
For Prisma and Tristars markers...I've never used them so I can't tell about how good or tips...sorry about that TAT
=================
YAY! as I promised before *got shot*...hope it will be helpful for you guys. Any question for copic markers are welcome (umm...if I can answer as well TwT)..lol

I originally worked with prismacolor, and I found Copic markers to be SO much better. I buy my copics full priced from copicmarker.com and they are about five dollars each for the ciao, which is the same for prismacolors, but because copic's are refillable, they are more economic in the long run. The refills are ten dollars each, but refill a ciao marker around sixteen times. I've had to replace the skin tone for prismacolor three times, so they do run out quickly depending on how often you use them.

it all depends. no, you can't refill them but they're a lot cheaper to buy so singles cost lest to replace versus copics. if you keep the caps on them whenever you're not using them (even when you're drawing but not using that color) then they last for a while. i'm happy with my copics, which i use 'cause they're cheaper, and they've lasted me without replacements yet. but copic sketches especially the brush nib is amazing for coloring though
i wrote up a journal entry on the topic if you're seeking to go into art markers [link]

Prismacolors blend very nicely, but they are also very expensive and don't have a wide variety of shades. They are great though!

DickBlick.com sells copics and prices are reasonable. They show u what u could be spending right next to what you'll spend if u buy from them. A lot of times they are having sales and offer free shipping and if you sign up for the card (which is ten dollars) you save 10% off every purchase from then on..
I have also heard good things from oozac but have not personally purchased from them. Hope this helps!

For those wondering about the difference between Copic and Prismacolor markers, I will tell you my thoughts as I am experienced with both.
I used to attend a small art college and my school store sold both Copics and Prismacolor markers. I was very much attracted by Prisma at first because they have really appealing colors and at retail price they were a little cheaper than Copics. Also, my school sold them as singles which worked well. However, I was extremely disappointed in the quality. I had both a grey set in Copic and Prisma and the copics lasted at least double if not triple the amount of time Prismas did. I was so disappointing because the quality of prismacolor pencils are outstanding and I was expecting the same out of their markers but I was wrong. The Copic blending marker especially was a big help to my projects and even made the Prisma markers look better. As someone who has spent a fortune that they didn't have in markers, for long demanding college art projects I highly suggest to anyone considering buying their first set to look online for a good set of Copic markers. They are the best. Very expensive for a student, but if you buy anything else you will probably be wasting your money rebuying the same markers over and over again like I did. Please learn from my mistake, I wasted so much money...

I prefer prismacolor. They're easier for noobs like myself. One has to be insanely bad, to leave traces, while my experience with Copics is, that you have to work extremely fast, because once it dries out, you'll start see the strokes - while Prismacolor are stroke-less, even for noobs.

Awsome! Just bought your book today, 'Shojo Wonder Manga', and it's AWSOMEEE(too)!!!!!!!!!!!! I'd 'watch' you, but my phone won't let me, sooooo, great stuff! It will help me tremendously. As far as markers, I just can't wrap my head around them, they keep eluding me. Thank God for coloured pencils!

Hello, I adore the way you use markers and really don't want to bother but I hope it's okay to ask you for a tip. What kind of paper do you use for your copic art? Is the Copic Manga Illustration paper any good for you?

Copic has the ability to blend, but regular markers do not. (If your pointing at Crayola kinds.) And they last longer.
