Wow, now this is helpful as I'm clueless at painting in general. quick question though... after doing the back ground colour and moving onto the otehr areas do you still use the masking stuff again??? Or does is mangle the already painted areas?

Ecthelian In reply to mysticheero [2008-07-20 08:15:54 +0000 UTC]

For this pic, after I was done with the bg area, I didn't use frisket anymore. ^^
so the other parts I just painted them regularly without frisket ^^.

Ah, thank you. I really need to actually dig out my old watercolours. I have some really nice sets too.... Of course I can't get anything nearly as beautiful as your work so I shall continue to watch you in envy.

It is really amazing to see you work on a watercolor piece. That artwork is truly beautiful. I especially loved the tiger! It was beautifully painted! And it's actually the first time I learned about frisket. o_0
I know.. I'm such an idiot.

I wanna learn how to use water colors. Because honestly, watercolors scare me! I think I'll just mess it up.

No you're not idiot at all!!!

>__<" I just knew about frisket this year when my professor introduced it in the class. Haha, before that I still had no clue at all what the heck is! so it's ok!!!

Aww.. you're so sweet.

Before you made the tutorial, I was actually kinda wondering how you use watercolors without ruining the other parts of the lineart. So that's the magic of frisket. XD:

You really are awesome!

Liquid Frisket

Thank you so much for making this; it'll be so helpful when I begin learning watercolors (never tried it )

But I have a question; what size and type of paper did you use? If it's not too much to ask.

Thanks again, this is going to be so cool to try out. ^_^

I have two questions:

What brand of watercolor paper would you reccomend?
I noticed that the tape you used to hold it down was blue. Do you need a certain type for that, or will regular scotch tape work?

By the way, thank you so much for this ♥

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ecthelian In reply to Ana-sama [2008-07-20 07:29:28 +0000 UTC]

Usually I use Canson : Montval (it's cold press by the way) but recently I switch to use Fabriano. I think Fabriano absorbs colors better but still, Canson is the good one for sure!!!!

And the reason that I taped in that picture. Because I wanted to stick it with my clipboard so I could work more convenient. The tape I used is called 'Artist Tape' I think you can find it at any art store : D

may I ask a questions?
I never know about the masking thing...can you ONLY use rubber cement erasers?
what about other erasers?
