Description
"Daedalus told his beloved son exactly where to fly:halfway between the sun and the water, no higher and lower.
But Icarus was a dreamer. He ignored those warnings.
He flew too close to the sun, and the waxed wings tragically melted. Icarus plunged into the sea...and that's how he ended his life
TwT A final project illustration for World Mythology class. Icarus died because his own ignorance...or maybe desire (it depends on each person's view, I guess)...it's true. But is that because the brightness of the sun was too tempting for him? I'm just curious >D

There are literally no words to describe how perfect this is.
everything just seems right, the expressions, the colors, the anatomy.. the pure emotion put into this is just amazing!
i really like how the background seems like the sun's fire at the top and the dark waters below, and how it mixes in-between!!

I think this story has a different meaning, personally. I think, in some ways, Icarus knew exactly what he was doing. He knew it was safest to travel midway between the sea and the sun, but he knew the opportunity to see the heavens so close, to feel the joy of true soaring flight, was too tempting to care for safety. He did exactly what he wanted to do, and though it did result in his death I think it gave him one moment of absolute, pure happiness so that he could go to Hades content.
But that's just my interpretation.

actually, the stroy our teacher told us said, that Icarus was distracted by stars. He wanted to reach them ,and taht is how he flew too close to the sun.

anyway, this really catches the emotion, the fear in Icarus. I love the darkened arm is beautyful.
Wings are very nicely made too! Raly nice and lineless.
mayve there is a bit too much detail in the hair, but yet, on the other hand it's good, it pulls your eyes to the expression, wich looks surprized/scared.

I read a good poem about him. He didn't die. He just washed onto a shore and had to live a normal life.
