Description Windy Ridge Bristlecone Pine Scenic Area, one of several stands of bristlecones in Colorado, is located atop Windy Ridge at the eastern foot of Mount Bross, the 22nd highest peak in the state at 14,172 feet in elevation. The winds from which the ridge gets its name have caused the trees to take on a tilted appearance. Good views of South Park are also available from this ridge

thanks - they say ther're 1,400 years old - even though some of them were cut down and used as mine supports in the many mines that dot the mountain side - manifest destiny ?????

Yup and you figure they only used the bigger trees, so they destroyed lots of old wood that could've been used to study weather data from some wood core samples...Guess mining was more important back then... ;(
