There are not too many of them around, especially in captivity. Leucism is a lot like albinism, but usually it isn't this extreme. A leucistic bird will still have some pigment, which can range from them having only one or two white feathers, to being almost enitrely pure white, like this bird. The pictures will not show it, but on her wing and tail feathers, there are very faint hints of where certain markings are. If she were totally albino, those faint markings wouldn't be there at all.

This bird is in the care of SIA, the Comanche Nation Etho-ornithological Inititive.

Thank you so much for the info. You are very knowledgeable.
I appreciate you taking out the time to tell me all about this
beauty. Such a gorgeous bird. Shame that there isnt much more
of these beauties around. Amazing shot.

It's so cute and pretty, and it looks soft.  I love its blue eyes.  The one who used to be at CRC had normal brown eyes, but she started out mostly brown, and turned whiter with every molt.  We also boarded a falconer's bird once who was partial leucistic.  She had a mix of white and brown feathers and looked spotted all over.

Yea, they are still studying the genetics of leucism in birds. It comes and goes, some birds will be totally normal looking one year, and patchy white the next.
