The bird is a captive bird, trained for educational programs. We bring him out to fly in in shows, the equipment on his legs are so we can keep a good hold on him when it is not safe for him to be out flying around.

Great photo- beautiful bird I have a question- how are black hawk-eagles in temperament and training? They are like a goshawks or like buzzards? Do you hunt with him?

Thank you!
We do not hunt with him. He will never be used for hunting, as he is one of about 6 in the US. He is still in training, but he is very calm and easy going for the most part. He isn't really like either bird.Β

Zuul, looking as sinister and snazzy as ever.
Actually, Cryss, do you know what his personality is like? I'm curious about how a bird-of-prey like that reacts in comparison to others, especially since you seem to have experience with handling raptors.

He's a very cool looking bird
Yes, I work with him every day. He is a very smart bird and very calm. He is still in training right now, so some things still spook him pretty easily. He isn't a whole lot different from most of our other birds for the most part, but we haven't done much with him yet.
