Pine trees are conquering the open area left behind by retreating glaciers. It's really bizarre to see trees grow in an environment like this, which only seems to consist of rock and ice.

Here you can see parts of the mountains Vice President (first ridge on the left) and The President right behind it. You can also see the tip of the President Glacier. I personally adore the extension of the Vice President. It's such a character with all its unique structures. A more detailed shot can be found below:

Hands down my favourite day hike of all time. It may sound weird but I had tears in my eyes multiple times on this trail because it was so overwhelming up there.
