Ahhh very nice work, Patrick. Out of the two shots I decided to comment on this one because this is what caught my eyes the most. I do like Colossus, but I don't think it has quite the impact this shot has. The toning in this is absolutely gorgeous and I do believe that it perfectly brings out the best in the details that you managed to capture. Talking about details... wow! This really does have some. I just love the lines, curves, patterns and intricate details. Looks very grand. I think what this shot has is a lot of atmosphere to it. It's very dark and moody, a little gothic even. You know, it almost looks like a gate leading to another world... a desolate land. Lovely composition and fantastic eye.
Honestly, I've tried to look for any way this could be improved and I can't find any. So no crit for you I'm afraid. Overall, it's pretty flawless in my eyes. Great bordering and type as usual. Keep up the lovely work.

I think the crop expresses such incredible perfection, you've really done a perfect job here. I'd love to have this on me wall. It's one of those photos that only a photographer would truly appreciate.

Hey Patrick! Excellent photo. Such sharpness/definition! What camera/lens did you use? I really dig the toning I'm guessing thats the part where the inspiration came in? I'm in favor of commenting on good AND bad things when looking at a photo, and in this case, the only (in my opinion) bad thing would be the crop. I dont know what the complete building looks like, but if it had been possible I think you should have included the whole windowframe of the front window (maybe stepped abit back and a little to the left).
Anyway, I'm curious about your equipment. Your photos has great quality!

hey Lars! I used the D70 kit lens (18-70mm) + UV & polarizer filters. The toning is indeed inspired by you I thought to myself, "self, what would Mr. Raun try to do with such a picture, and almost immedilatey out came the burning and dodging tools
I'm a firm believer in commenting on both positives and negatives. I try to do so also, but the pieces that I comment on are mostly ones that I fav, so it's a self selecting group to begin with. You make a good point point about the window in this picture. I thought the same afterwards when I was evaluating. Unfortunately, it wasn't a crop. Thanks for taking time during your busy schedule to drop by! Have a jolly rest of the day

I know you've heard this a billion plus one times already, but the colors are really spiffy-tastic. That's why I added it to my favorites. ^_^
And what building is that? It's beautiful. o.o

whoa, excellent shot man. does it have any after effects applied? the lighting and textures are so smooth, it has a digital rendered appearance... which all the more kudos to your immense skill if you churned that out of the camera straight off.
and the theme, fascinating one, guarded and trapped at one time.
very cool

hey Chris, thanks a lot. Yes, some post editing was done after I downloaded it from my camera-- contrast and tones were adjusted and lots of dodging and burning used throughout. Thanks for taking a look and your question
