Description Isn't this a pretty magpie? Well, she stole my dream catcher, and I don't like having bad dreams!

...It's another quick manip, intended as a wallpaper. But I was trying to concentrate on blur and focal point. Please chime in on whether or not I was successful with those points.

The only other comment I have on the content is that I pictured the bird flying off into a Sandman-esque sky. So that's why it's kind of spacey. I wanted to add to the mystical aspect of the symbolism of the magpie stealing away the good dreams (or at least, the device that protects against the bad ones).

Well, I just love it...the arrangement of the magpie and the dream catcher, the wonderful background...kind of perfect x)

Thank you! I'm using it as my wallpaper right now, and it's kind of good for that since it's rather simplified. I don't know about perfect...but thank you, very much.

I loooove magpies! I like how the dreamcatcher isn't glaringly obvious at first - you have to figure out what she's stealing - great job!!

Thank you! I was lucky with the original photo of the dream catcherβ€”the feathers already looked like the were flying behind it, so I didn't have to do much to it.

Very pretty magpie! Great choice for your thief, I think the magpie is a trickster character in some lore, or is at least related to one (crows.) As for composition, my eye starts at the white feathers, then moves down to the dream catcher, then they circle back to the magpie before looking at the stars. I'm not sure if that's what you intended, but it works for me. ;>

Thank youβ€”yes, I was going for the trickster reputation when I chose that bird. (and they're prettier than crows!) I'm glad to here that my intensions for the focal point worked. I definitely wanted the bird to be the draw, without the dream catcher and stars directly competing for focus. Sigh of relief, on my part...sometimes my focal points are all over the place!

I like the placement of the dream catcher, it's in a position to be noticed but not till later when I'm looking at the picture. My eye is going straight to the blue feathers on the bird, then the head/beak, then the dream catcher, then the tail, then exploring the stars. It's a great composition to encourage exploration, very free and open.

Generally speaking, I love that background with the dark bird in front! Wonderful combination.

Hooray! Yours is the second vote for my focal point working. Whew!

I wanted to keep it simple, but at the same time I wanted the bird to draw you in without the other element competing too much for the focus. And I count myself very, very lucky for finding those sky stock photos. I'm glad you like it, too!
