Description May 2017

While working on my instrument rating, we often flew out to KFTG where there's less traffic than at our home base, KAPA. The gas is also cheaper at KFTG. My flight instructor was fueling up, and I took a quick picture of N65251 at the pump. It's a simple image which like quite a lot.

Thank you, I love that little bird. I've flown three airplanes, but honestly that Skyhawk is still my favorite.

Being near sighted, I was never able to be an actual pilot. However, I have spent a lot of time in simulations. That little gal is a doll, indeed.

251 has always struck me as more masculine, to be honest. I know it's not conventional, but that's the impression I get.

Kind of neat how machines take on gender, yes...

I know traditional convention says all vessels are "She." However, if we're going to treat vehicles like living beings and claim to know their unique personalities, then it's silly to assume they'd all be ladies. Most pilots are men, and some aircraft would surely take after their owners, adopting male attributes. Others, however, may embrace their femininity because they're treated like ladies and named after women. (I'm a female pilot - I don't buy into the idea of gender norms. I'm only stating that if aircraft really do have varying personalities, it's safe to assume they might identify as female, male, or even genderless).

I have computers who identify as men, women and critters...

Critters? Do elaborate.

My ancient and beloved iPhone4S is named Gershwin, after the composure

My first PC was a Slow Dog. That is how I got my internet handle. I have male PCs named Nanook, Spanky, Mister T, Duck, MOJO and Zeke. I have female PCs named Delilah, Dinky and Azalea. I have a guitar named Moon Dawggie. I have a bass named MOJO ((not related to the PC). I could go on and on... I name everything...

I only name technology and vehicles, things which seemingly exhibit their own behavior that I frequently interact with. My car, my phone, my iPad, my PC. I don't own the planes I fly, so I don't feel entitled to name them, but I do have nicknames for them.

Nicknames are good enough...
