And no, it has nothing to do with the Oil Countries.
It's a personal portfolio piece I did, since I have stopped taking on client work due to the fact that I am going travelling for four months next monday.

Cant be bothered to read all the comments underneath. Would just like to underline that Webdesign is just as much, if not more about communication than Design and Creativity.
The reason a lot of designs look a like is simply because they are effective in conveying the message or serving its purpose because the average Joe is use to interacting with similar products.

Clearly you put all your time and effort into bashing other designs that come of a 'similar'. Do you really think every single piece that Orman...or even his followers have created are 100% original?
Yes, I get it. You think that someone invented the logo aligned to the left, the menu aligned to the right...a slider with some intro text above it. Oh wait, a 4 column content area based on a grid system, never seen that before either.
I'm not saying EJ wasn't inspired, but coming here and saying "looks similar" is just an ass move. Inspiration is used everywhere. I guess you wouldn't know that judging by the lack of work in your own gallery.
Again, there's a difference between inspiration and flat out copying. I guess you don't draw a line between the and troll every piece of work that looks 'similar' to something else. You better be prepared, because there is a ton of inspired work out there. Have fun...

I have no need to use dA to display work (I found better places for that), although I do love to look what's out there (this is why I'm here).
If you made the time to think about what was said you would understand that when people crit work that's other the "oh how amazing this this, REALLY REALLY nice work..." it's usually a constructive crit...
If I got the crit I gave on this webpage design I would take it and ask myself: "hell if this guy sees it, then others must see it too. How can I change things around or improve this piece of art to make it stand out,.". This is called growth, growth in the skills and personal growth!
But I take it that you don't like any "negative" crit because you never learnt how to ask yourself the right questions at the right time. Instead you go off and become defensive and offended about any crit other then "WOW, THIS IS SOOOO FREEEAKING AWESOME, WELL DONE, WOW WOW WOOW...".
For the record you turned this into some big play illustrating that I'm a d*ck where I'm just speaking my mind and saying what I think, things that other people wont say because they are afraid of conflict like this.
Anyway hope you have a good weekend and don't take things so literal rather take it and use it to your advantage, it can only make you a better designer by coming out of our comfort zone...

Are you kidding? I live criticism! I personally think it's the best part about this industry (people willing to spend their time giving their feedback in order to help that person improve their skillset)
What I don't like is elitist in the design community thinking that they own a specific style or look, then leaving nothing but smug comments on other peoples work on how it looks 'similar'.
We should be innovating & growing together as a community, not bashing each other because two things happen to look 'similar'. And you'll notice again, I'm saying similar...not copied.
Please take a look at ejsing's gallery. You'll see right away that his talents go well beyond coping, as you so blatantly suggested in your original comment.
Your comment was not constructive, at all. Where was the substance to go by? You basically said inspiration is bad, and to be 100% original. News to you, nothing is original...even Orman's work.
I'm not going to waste any more time on you. Just be sure you're never inspired...otherwise the only feedback you'll get it "that looks inspired".
