Thanks so much for the journal CSS! It's very nice and I love that you gave us a choice with the colours too

I've down loaded this and I will be using, but I'm not sure when. I will credit you, of course.

Thank you.

No problem at all! Its for the old style journal, so feel free to tweak as necessary! (should really update is but have been very lazy lol)

PeacefulSoul In reply to Elandria [2010-04-19 18:28:54 +0000 UTC]

When you say 'update' does that mean you could have tweaked or made this a bit better to work better for all users?

Old style Journal? How do we tweak what does not look tweakable, I mean, only you would know to perfect it.

To me, it looks perfect. If it could be better, could you possibly update it then?

Elandria In reply to PeacefulSoul [2010-04-19 19:19:45 +0000 UTC]

lol it works perfectly adequately, but does not use the new "gruze" style (rounded corners) that DA released a while after I submitted this. The only difference would be to alter the class names in the CSS to reflect the new code DA uses but theres not much point when it still works ok.

Do you plan sometime that maybe you'll make a new CSS that is not only updated with the new jig, but looks flashy?

Elandria In reply to PeacefulSoul [2010-04-19 19:46:27 +0000 UTC]

Not in the immediate future no... just don't have time at the moment, but to be honest you're pretty spoilt for choice these days browsing through the submissions to the journal design category!!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

PeacefulSoul In reply to Elandria [2010-04-19 19:55:53 +0000 UTC]

Not spoiled, just unsatisfied, because they're not compatible with my browser, and the ones that are just don't look as progessional as yours does.

Elandria In reply to PeacefulSoul [2010-04-20 09:05:47 +0000 UTC]

Hmm I assume you're using IE then? Unfortunately theres not a lot to be done to increase how effective designs look when viewed with IE, both DA itself and the journals. Its very below par when it comes to compatibility and recognition of the more advanced CSS, and I refuse to bodge my code and start using a bazillion hacks just to try and get my designs to work with IE. Especially when there are more effective, CSS compliant, better designed browsers out there

Is Safari ok then? I have that too I use sometimes.

Elandria In reply to PeacefulSoul [2010-04-20 10:09:41 +0000 UTC]

Safari (though I don't use it myself) I believe is CSS standards compliant You should have much better luck with that across the entire internet

i have a small question: if we make our own pics to use, do they have to be the same size as your pics for each thing? thanx ^^

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Elandria In reply to taylor24359 [2010-01-12 09:21:46 +0000 UTC]

Yep they do ideally else you will run into placement issues.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

taylor24359 In reply to Elandria [2010-01-12 20:41:16 +0000 UTC]

^^ thanx, could you tell me the size of each part, or does it say somewhere?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Elandria In reply to taylor24359 [2010-01-12 22:02:56 +0000 UTC]

You will need to check the properties of each image when you open them in whatever program you will be using to make the new versions.

I love your simple journal format and I've been using it on my own dA. I don't think I'll be changing it for a long while! As such, I've mentioned you in my most recent journal (don't worry, the credit in the disclaimer remains in each entry!)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Elandria In reply to Rhosaucey [2010-01-07 15:42:15 +0000 UTC]

lol current one looks great but beware of changing the font too much, its picking up a very odd script font on my comp that makes the text almost unreadable at that size. It will be different on everyones computers depending if they have the font you have chosen installed, or have different fonts available from different font families

This is awesome, just got through all the instructions and the preview looks good, just wondered how you Insert Your Links?
it seems replacing the words changes the text in the preview but what should the code look like when inserting the URLs?

started using this awesome journal style months ago and edited it now a little, but I found out that its pretty crappy in IE and that it causes some trouble, do you have maybe someone who knows a solution? If not I'll try to fix that myself and tell you then if you want

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Elandria In reply to xSPYROTHEDRAGONx [2009-12-15 12:41:51 +0000 UTC]

I don't bother coding for IE, I dislike having to use hacks on perfectly acceptable css thats already been limited by DA's requirements.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

xSPYROTHEDRAGONx In reply to Elandria [2009-12-15 22:08:55 +0000 UTC]

yeah, I understand... but Its totally going on my nerves that if you have a widescreen monitor the journal looks soo crappy(im perfectionist so I need that )

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Elandria In reply to xSPYROTHEDRAGONx [2009-12-15 22:41:21 +0000 UTC]

Thats more to do with photobuckets size limits than anything else. Make the images as wide as you need and host them on your own unrestricted hosting will fix many of the dodgy look from spreading the journal beyond 800px wide.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

xSPYROTHEDRAGONx In reply to Elandria [2009-12-16 21:53:00 +0000 UTC]

Isnt there a way to avoid that it gets stretched soo much in IE?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Elandria In reply to xSPYROTHEDRAGONx [2009-12-17 03:29:27 +0000 UTC]

Other than adding in a max-width attribute to the main journal not really, plus you'd have to hack it for IE so that IE recognises it.

Elandria In reply to Darksonic13 [2009-11-29 03:28:48 +0000 UTC]

Did you upload the images to your own hosting eg photobucket or imageshack?
Did you then correctly copy/paste into the CSS code the "direct" image links?
Did you copy/paste the CSS (into the CSS box) and the header/footer text into the header/footer boxes?
Did you copy/paste the basic journal layout html code into your "main journal" box?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Darksonic13 In reply to Elandria [2009-11-29 08:55:14 +0000 UTC]

Yes, i did all that, but i think i know the problem...
you say you are supose to put it in like this; [link]
And i dont get it why i have to put the journal nr. in there.

None at all, just it was a bit confusing using TinyPic since it renames the images.
