Description WIP Demoman pack in which he actually does his job. I haven't seen anyone approach him as simply a demolition worker, so that's the angle here.

Grenade launcher is based on the RG-6, a kinda modern design has nice features.

Sticky launcher is based on vintage jackhammers.

Textures are just base colours which may not be final.

I absolutely adore the Bomb Exploding Kit. I've been waiting for somebody to make wirecutters for the Demoman (and red wire for him to cut! Genius!).

Not sure how I feel about the Bailiff's design. I think it's a little modern and ergonomic looking, and the bright red with orange details makes it look kind of like a nerf toy, but I think I understand that aesthetic direction that would lend itself to those color choices and to the new look.

Let me just quick thank you, though, for avoiding the pestilence of pointlessly alliterative names. Love the Groundbreaker's name especially. although I feel like I'm missing a reference for "bailiff".

I'm honestly surprised about how there haven't been anything along the lines of a bomb kit made in all these years, and even Valve considered some pliers/wire cutters on his belt - it's in practically every concept of him...

The Bailiff seems to be getting the most flak, which is interesting to me since I'd actually designed it for a previous demo set I ended up scrapping. I liked how it turned out but since it's being picked on now I've published pictures of it I'm not so sure, and I'm looking into alternative designs. The name was meant to be in relation to eviction and condemning buildings but if that isn't obvious then there's an issue. I want to get the grenade launcher right since it's a weapon type a lot of people want to see more of and I haven't done one, so I'll take my time on it.

Well, I only know about my own feelings regarding the Bailiff. My immediate response was that it looks like a toy but I think that might just be the paint job. I think if you swap out the crisp lines on the yellow detailing for something a little more industrial (like the check pattern on the mini sentry), then add some wear-and-tear like it's been in a demoman's toolchest for the last twenty years, you'll get the response you're looking for.

The thing about the name "Bailiff" is that I'm an American and as far as I know we only use the word to describe courthouse security officers. In any case, the name has a very law-enforcementy ring to it, so maybe it would be more appropriate for Demoman riot gear.

Well at the moment I'm redesigning the grenade launcher to make into something more different from the stock launcher. I'll look into how the paint affects it anyhow, it might be that your thoughts stem from real grenade launchers never getting a paint job, so it looks odd o one.

Here in the UK bailiffs can get involved in things like eviction, and riot gear was more or less what the weapon was originally intended for. I guess a more international friendly name is in order, especially if it's getting an overhaul.

Partially this is derived from my preference for more utilitarian and less decorative designs, I'll admit that, but the smooth colors and reflective surface on the paintjob makes the red body of the gun look like it's made of plastic, and the yellow striping and telescoping stock remind me of high-end nerf guns, like this:

On the other hand, the lack of wear and tear might contribute to the plastic appearance. Tools made from painted metal get scratched, leaving a visible score where the paint is removed to reveal the metal underneath. If a tool is significantly chipped or rusted, it'll get repainted, but there's no effort to smooth over the surface, so the new paintjob looks pitted and uneven. Scratched plastic usually just reveals more same-colored plastic, so scratches aren't as visible. You don't need me to tell you all this, but honestly I just figured it out and it makes me feel smart.

I understand what you're getting at with the Bailiff name, but even in that context it sounds more like law enforcement than demolitions. How does "The Wrecking Ball" grab you? Too obvious?

Something amusing I picked up looking for other names:
[link] It might be a little on-the-nose but I thought it was hilarious. Also something amusing: does the Demoman have a derby hat? The Demolition Derby? Ha! I slay me.

I love it. Amazing models.

Just a question... how can the nade chamber open? Does that pole splits in two? It's just weird probably because I can't see how it would open.

Fantastic work nonetheless.

It splits in the same way as the stock launcher.

But that pole on top. Wouldn't it get in the way of the reload animation? How would it open like the stock if they is a piece that, virtually, would not allow such movement?

I'm picky on those details. Sorry.

Well the pole isn't meant to be one continuous piece, but if that's what it looks like then I guess that's a design fault that needs fixing.
