Description
/* Updates and shit - July 2nd, 2011 */I updated this slightly, and instead of tacking on yet another edit to this already long deviation description, I just decided to kill it all and start over.
So in a nut shell, this will make your |New|Edit| and |pencil| buttons mostly transparent until you hover. So the buttons you see on your userpage widgets will be transparent, along with the pencil button on comments to let you hide them until you hover over them.
This latest update doesn't quite look the same as the preview does here, but you get the added bonus of an animated opacity change instead of the sudden jump from translucent to opaque. Well, at least if you use Firefox 4.0 or above.
To Install
You'll need either Firefox or Chrome , and have the Stylish extension.Firefox Stylish - [link]
Chrome Stylish - [link]
Once you have those, you can open this link and do this, depending on if you use Firefox or Chrome:Firefox - Copy the entire contents of that link into a new blank style from the Stylish menu (click icon -> write new style -> blank style), give it a name, and then hit save.
Chrome - Open that link, but only copy the line starting with "/* make edit/new buttons..." till the last "}" character, but don't copy that last "}". Then in the "Applies to" area, add in a "URLs on the domain" category and write in "deviantart.com".
It's a lot more work in Chrome, but that's another reason Firefox is better
Now this applies to group pages also, so if you have privs there, you might find the small icons on things being transparent annoying, but you can fix that, sorta, if you take out some lines. I haven't been using it on those icons for very long, so I'll see if that's annoying to me. Anyway, hope you all still like this

Yeah, you're right about it being too transparent for new users (and some old users). But I made this with the idea that people installing it would know where those buttons are and where to move their mouse So I'm not sure they should be this transparent if dA ever implemented this, but it's sort of nice for people just wanting to get them out of the way
But yeah, that blue needs to go. I wouldn't mind a blue color if it just looked better than some MS Paint doodle

i love the idea... but it angers me when things get put into the Daily Deviation that are so cool... but never get used! or actually made!

Hahaha, I would hope that the staff look through all the dA-Related categories to get ideas. There's hundreds of awesome Greasemonkey scripts that I would love see put into place.

That's just... really odd
I could maybe understand it if it was a computer with some kind of spyware or virus, but on all of your computers? That's just strange.

Hmm, have you deleted your Firefox profile? That's where all your custom information is stored. That's why you can't uninstall it and then reinstall it and have it all revert back to the default stuff. Try googling how to remove the profile (I have instructions (kind of) on how to do it on a Windows computer in my journal).

Hmm, I would try to remove every Firefox file, taking out every file that it put on your computer. But I have no idea where it puts stuff on a MAC

... it is alot less complex than it is on windows... thats all i can say! macs have very easy file systems! but ... when you buy parallels desktop and you are yustue using a mac... it makes windows seem 2 times more complex than it really is.lol yea ... i think i just need to convert the file type... since the firefox main program is a application file... or in other words made for windows.... but runs on mac i think i should convert it to a .PDCQ file... witch it the main file for mac's ... don't tell anyone though... people still don't know how to make a program for mac... so that is crushial info... jk i don't care but yea i probably should convert it to the right file format for MAC

not really but i think i am starting to. lol well great job on the script and idea! Deviant art really should consider that... because if you want to view your page how others do.... you have the big ugly edit buttons their that kinda ruin it.

well now i am using Norton anti virus popup blocker but it always blocks the wrong things! i mean ... why do i get a virus protection warning when i open the DA emoticons list!!! so my only other choice is the firefox spam blocker... and it doesn't work at all! so i always have trouble with firefox

Ah well crap. userstyles.org is horrible with keeping their site up and running
I'll update my description to link to a file with all the text you need to make this work. For now, you can right click on the Stylish icon, then select Write Style then Blank Style.... From there, give it a name you can remember, and copy all of the text on this page [link] to the body and hit save. Let me know if you have any problems

Yeah, that blue looked very out of place. It was like they were thinking "Hey, some day we'll make this a sexy looking blue button with some nice shading and borders, but just for now, we'll just make it a solid color"... then they forgot to make it sexy looking
I'm sure I could have fancied up my version, but I think this looks much better. I'm glad you think so too

Exactly! Although, I know thats just a minor little thing, but still its bothersome.
It does, and I changed the opacity a little to make the buttons slightly more visible because I'd forget about them if I didn't.
