Okay, so Umbreon was very difficult. I knew from prior experience that most of my darker values would turn back while printing with very little balance, so thinking ahead I tried adding some really powerful highlights in the darker areas. It printed out beautifully, while the digital version looks a tad funky. XDRelated content

Yay, it's Umbreon! This one looks very Anubis-like, which adds to its mystery. Nice cloud-work in the back! The best part is the dignified look it's giving you with those red eyes. Now, I'd really like to see the print-out. I bet it's great!
Umbreon is my favorite Eevee evolution oddly because it seems so sadly extraneous. Poor Umbreon is merely Espeon's counterpart. And while Espeon is psychic, Umbreon is...dark and mysterious? I'm still wondering (bulbapedia is unhelpful on this issue). The upside, which made Umbreon my favorite, is that its lack of definition gives us the opportunity to project whatever we want onto it. So, Umbreon is whatever we want it to be!

The funny thing is, I've never seen Umbreon as a counterpart.. I always saw the two as a pair. =3 Dark and light, day and night- I believe they evolve at those respective times in the game too! So, individually I wouldn't see them as making much sense, but together they make the perfect team. =3

Yes, that's true. They really are a pair. Technically, that's what I meant as a counterpart: a night to Espeon's day.
It just seemed to me that if Espeon was psychic, Umbreon should then be psychic (to mirror Espeon), ghost (similar to psychic, but dark too), or simply a physical fighter (like Eevee, but much stronger). Instead, it's confusing (which is fine with me). It's odd that Umbreon's poisonous.
I think, though, that physical fighter is my closest guess. Espeon and Umbreon: psychic and fighter, mind and body!

Well dark isn't actually poisonous. It's a really strange type in that it really doesn't have any type attacks to itself aside from biting and other nasty moves. Like Beat Up, Thief, and Foul Play.
It does seem like an odd choice, but then also remember that Umbreon was originally the first Dark Type released! I think it was just an excuse to get people interested in the new type, otherwise I personally think they'd have gone ghost..

The poisonous thing came from the pokedex entries. Some of them say that Umbreon can spray poisonous sweat. The others just talk about the glowing rings on Umbreon's body.
Well, it's only a matter of time before a ghost type eevee evolution comes around. I'm still waiting for metal, poison, and air!

There are so many fan made evolutions, I think the game designers will have a difficult time coming up with a design that won't elect some 'Hey, I made that first!' response..

Yes, that's very likely. It was probably that way when Leafeon and Glaceon were introduced, too. Why are the eevees so popular? There's just something about them that appeals to people. This necessitates further study. I shall begin analysis now.
