Description Pastels are one of my favorite mediums, and I love drawing horses.. This was just all around a fun piece to do!

This model, Nate, is a gorgeous bay that has taken about a million photos of, and I've been wanting to draw him since I first discovered her stock account!

I like this one... It's so soft but nonetheless detailled...

Wow! You're on a roll!

This was very well done. Did your photo include the plants in the foreground?

Photo was of the horse in a dusty paddock. I thought a simple meadow would be a step up, aesthetically. Hope I spelled that right, spell check recommending this one..

Yep, it's correct. Ok, I was just wondering, because there seemed to be a difference between how you drew the horse and the background-one more technical while the other more wistful. Overall, the effect is very dreamlike!

Not really a difference, it was just easier for me! These are 9 x 12, so I try to avoid getting too tiny and complex with messy pastels

This is beautiful! The horse is so detailed yet simple, and I love the way you made the light hit the horse. Not to mention the background, which is so gorgeous!

Thank you very much for your note! <3

I must give the highlight credits to the stock photo I used, all the information was there for me, I just had to execute it. The background though, that was just me placing the horse in a simple environment. I'm glad you like it!

Practice helps, lots and lots of practice.. Also, make a copy of your picture first and draw on the copy.
