Description
I've been asked many times how we made our kamael wings. I really didn't plan to write a tutorial EVER, but after 50th questions I gave up.That’s not the only or best way to make wings, but there were demands, so I comply
Wings made by Desler (ErikDesler ) and me (ElenaLeetah ).
Tutorial made by me
РУССКАЯ ВЕРСИЯ - ЗДЕСЬ

Just curious, how well does paint hold on this material? Could one make a pair of black wings with it?

ElenaLeetah In reply to HyphenScribe [2013-01-22 07:34:17 +0000 UTC]
Well, you can buy black foam, it comes in a few different colers. I know of white, black and blue.
Tha paint holds awfully, so take into considirtion that half of it will fall of during handling and transporting (we didn't first time, thus on Animatsuri we nad almost white wings: almost all the paint came off during transportation from Moscow to St.Petersburg. Then I painted them again and again; for each show).

A few questions: did you use wavy or smooth Isolon and where did you buy yours? I can only find it in orders from 100kg and more online.

It's a little bit wavy, yes, thus you have take it into the considiration whan making your wings.
We've bought ours in a building material store (OBI or Leroy merelin - don't remember -__-)

I use this stuff for shipping; never would have thought to use it this way. Wonderful idea, great work! They look very pretty.

The idea was not exactly ours, many people use this foam for wings. And it suited our purposes, and so we used the idea and made our own wings
Thanks We love the way they turned out to look. We thought we'd had to make feather wings for the photoshoot, but those looked good enough not only for stage fencing.
