so here is a part of another university project that I'm working on. Development of animation movie, based on Philip Reeve's "Mortal Engines". But there won't be an actual movie, hahah xDD 'cause our study program is stupid.So, I will draw forty more pictures like this ones and about 7 illustrations further. And that will take a looong time, 'cause, you know, I'm a slowpoke. And that's all you see in my dA gallery in the period ahead ;______; so sorry.

You made Hester pretty hot. I thought she was supposed to be "hideous" but the art hear is still super.

Yes, but only because of her scar.
Nothing else in the book says shes ugly when it comes to her body except for the scar.
The scar is pretty much the only reason shes hideous.

Hey! I don't know if you know this, but someone posted this in a Reddit AMA with Philip Reeve, here's what he said about your work:
"Thanks for posting that link: I love that! It's interesting, you'd think her style would be much too clean and colourful for my grungy world, but she captures it better than almost anyone I've ever seen. I wish she could do the whole movie! And people mention Miyazaki, of course. I'd never heard of him till Spirited Away came out, but when I caught up with Laputa and things I realised everyone must assume I've been ripping him off for years! He could do a good Mortal Engines. I'm sure he wouldn't stick to the story at all, but in his case I wouldn't mind."

I'm happy to see positive feedback from Mr. Reeve, though that artworks was drawn ages ago 
However, it would take decades for a single person to draw the whole animation film, and I guess there is no man on earth with such a resources, hope everyone understand that

I really wish I was as good at you at drawing and animation, then I would make a mortal engines movie myself! (or try to, at least.) it's only after reading the first and second books that I realize how amazing an animated film of it would be, and if it was done in this style, the only words to describe it would be anything synonymous with 'perfect'.

i've been reading the first Mortal Engines with my 6 year old son and he said that he wished there were some pictures of london he could see. hit up google and found you straight away and just wanted to let you know that we are both blown away. this is real professional quality in our opinion! just also saw your first animation (the opening scene in the museum) and the words "shut up and take my money" definitely spring to mind! would just be too incredible if you would able to pursue this idea further, i think that it would would so much better as this style of animation vs a live action or CGI movie.

Hmm, this is genuinely well done!
The only problem I have with it is that you seem to have fallen into the trap that 90% of artists and filmmakers do when it comes to people like Hester - You've made her gorgeous, with a little scar across her face.
She's supposed to be hideous! She's described as having lost her eye, her nose is completely gone, and her face has been ruined thanks to the sword blow - she 'aint pretty.
But oh well, it's still good art nonetheless.

I love these drawings. It reminds me of a Disney movie. I really wished your study program could make this. Could you make an explication on The City of Ember novel by Jeanne DuPrau? I would like to see what your version looks like.

Pretty good. My one real problem is that Hester doesn't really look... hideous enough. Seems odd, I know, but it's a fundamental part of the series that Tom loves her despite her horrific appearance.

She does wear a veil, though. So they wouldn't have to, much of the time.
And by the way, not sure if you're aware, but Peter Jackson - a.k.a Mr. Lord Of The Rings - is working on a movie adaptation that will presumably be live action. Scheduled for 2012. REJOICE!

Oh wow, I've never encountered anyone else who's actually read that book. It's been a long time, but this is exactly how I pictured it, especially Hester's attack and the ensuing chase. I love the first frame, too, with all the various animals. This looks great.

I can't say I've ever seen art of this series. (Haven't finished it either, because I can't find the later books in the series for some reason.)
That said, it's incredibly disappointing that this won't actually be animated, because it looks amazing.
