Description
"See there, the innocent blood you have spilt on the steps of Notre Dame"Speedpaint of the death of Quasimodo’s mother, from Disney’s HoND. This scene made such an impression on me when I was a kid. Gutwrenching sadness, I tell you. Then (some years later) I read the book; even more gutwrenching sadness. Then I read Les Miserables, and concluded that Victor Hugo basically dedicated his authourship to killing off my favourite characters.
Très méchant, monsieur Hugo. Vraiment très méchant.
Ahem. Another speedpaint, because that is what I have the time and patience to do these days. And drawing something is better than drawing nothing, right?

It is beautiful! I love this movie... it would have been my favorite Disney movie if the "Guy Like You" song the gargoyles sang hadn't existed. '-_-
Otherwise the rest of the movie and soundtrack is absolutely phenomenal!

Thank you - and I agree! The soundtrack is, overall, phenomenal. I do love all those "Dies Irae". Of course, IMO, the movie would've been better if they'd stayed true to the tragic, gothic feeling of the book. But then again, that's grown-up-me speaking - fully aware of the fact that Disney's target audience is The Kids. Considering that, I'm impressed that Disney actually dared to make a movie with such dark themes as this.

Agreed, totally but I think I see what the director was thinking, it was like "this is Hugo, Paris is burning, we have to put some comic relief here or children will cry..."
Anyway I love the movie, I think it captured the spirit of the book very well

Agreed, me too.
But on a side note..You'll think me mad... (which is probably quite accurate)... but in my weird cross-over-verse, where Hunchback meets Phantom, I have a crazy but hilarious vision of Nadir singing that song to Erik who's afraid to court Christine. I know, 100% random and completely non-canon and I don't even know...

OMG that's the funniest thing I've heard today! I would pay to see that!
Phantom and Hunchback have a lot of common points, maybe that's why I love both stories... (and Beauty and the Beast too)

This is beautiful. The expression of anguish on her face is incredible. Great job my friend!
