Thought it was something Lovecraftian 4 a moment.Sorry but maybe I'll comment it later. One of the most disturbing pictures I've seen in a while though.

sidetrack1Β  It certainly could be of a Lovecraftian sort in its essence.Β  This image is a very old one of mine from when I was younger, and I agree it is a vision of a very disturbing zeitgeist.Β  Sorry i got back to you so late but thanks for adding your comment!

Tell me if I'm on the right track.
The adult is trapped in the convention of cold logic, with ultimately consumes him to the point of petrification into an uncolored mass, deforming his perception on reality. A big mouth with big taste buds shows and insatiable search for a meaning, trying to look for it in love and sex, but the adult, just like fish, dies by his mouth in a content, forcefully satisfied manner. The third eye is missing, showing skepticism towards emotion or even spirituality, while the only human part left of this is one tired eye, looking in tears the child who will eventually become one of them.
The kid has lost attention to the giant candy, which promises a never ending childhood, in order to focus in the adult, and, in the same manner as he disposes of his diapers, now lets go of his "unnecessary" curiosity in order to experience the power and the authority of adulthood.
Amazing work

Forgive my late reply; just completed a large geographical move, so everything's been a been stretched thin. I almost feel like the "adult" in the "Gravity of Spirit Corruption"; though i'm hoping its not something a good dose of psychedelics can't handle lol

I think basically you got the gist of it all, much more acutely than have most; your sensitivity is uncanny and beautiful.

There is one aspect though, the double edge of curiosity, which is also present in the image--the child's head as a safety pin, unlatched...the advent of the integration of categorical analysis, which threatens to burst the balloons(birthright aspects of bouyant psyche), and upon landing the child's feet to the ground, so begins the metamorphasis of the child into the consumptive entrenched enculturated adult mass. That safety pin symbolism calls, for me at least, into question--whether the forces which suppress and nullify the spirit are really cultural, or innate--built into the organism on a fundamental level. I remember at the time of drawing this some years ago i would've responded that it was of course the sly enculturation preying upon the curiosity and suggestability of the child which instills an internalized self destructive program within the boy. Now however, though i believe that to be one aspect, i'm not so certain it is merely that simple--that it may be there is an inherency within the matrix of physics which reiterates itself in manifestations of all levels which contends against the free spirit or free creative potential....in a sense god as a driven-dampened system...both the drive and dampening mechanisms infinite and in contention, as the basis for physics, and karma...

So anyway thank you so much for your exquisite response to the work, glad you liked it, and extra glad to receive your considerations! Namaste.

socially engineered.... i despise that phrase, in a way it is one of the things that terrify me. society that way makes my mind feel boxed in.
the child is free and yet imprisoned by fascination... that is (among much else) what i see anyway.
what were you thinking when you drew this?
brilliant surrealism.
peace man

I understand the fear and the sense of revulsion at what the social engineering process inspires. I was thinking about all the angles and relationship facets which transforms the child, an essentially unbridled being, into a generally more rigid, traumatized, guarded, inhibited, and in many cases, mentally ill, adult. Also there were more abstract thoughts...the free flow of energy in a child's body-mind as opposed to the typical mediations and structures of adults, and so on.

Thank you very much for the comments. Sorry for getting back to you so late, have been a tad overstretched....much like the image unfortunately! Not entirely chained down yet though, don't worry

hmmm well thanks for the reply =]
awesome piece. yeah... i think sometimes that getting into adulthood one feels that one's thoughts have expanded, to find that everyone else has thought them before... there are so damn many of us on this earth...

this one, my favorite by the way, is fantastical! its a drawing of a surrealistic whatchamacallit, yet it looks realistic. it plays tricks with my mind; one object will suddenly appear to be something else and back again. BRAVO!!

My god I saw this piece on erowid years ago, and now here I might have the chance to work with such a great artist as yourself. I'll get back on the details, I'm still working on finding all the artists for this project.

Brillant. I see how the adult is not shackled to just anything, but the texture of the wall is the brain tissue of the adult itself in an un-natural square shape that shackles the engineer. The childs mind transformed into simple colorful containers of air(made into nothing). But to what end, is not said. Only the brutal monstrosity of it all. My god what do we do with our future! We allow society to turn the imaginations who those who could save us into more monsters. Surely one of the deepest peices of art I have seen in a long time. Thank you!
