Wow, I'm very happy you liked looking at my photographs. I'm in love with surreal art, I also draw, but my knowledge of drawing is much smaller than about art.

I would love to image the other world that I'm connected with, but it's impossible to do with my camera. That's what I love about the way you work - you have so great skills in painting that you can make some sort of gate in reality, to that other world you are in and it's open for all eyes.

... maybe you would like to see something from my hand? I would love to get some critic or opinion from you. Please have in mind that I'm 17, and some drawings are made when I was 14, I still have a lot of time to learn hehe.

Thanks so much for the sincere investigation of my work, and i'm honored that you'd see it as a benchmark of sorts worthy of measuring your own process against.

One of the defining moments for me earlier(round 2001) occurred when i suddenly realized that even though i had been facing the canvas and applying the brush, my awareness was partially distracted to where in all practical effect, only my neuromuscular body was painting, and not my spirit which is given through my explicit awareness.

In that moment i allowed my focus to completely saturate the experience of every brush stroke, allowing each to be free to express themselves independently in their relation to the whole. I allowed myself also to loosen up--understanding that if it be a choice between intent to absolutely control media or to be absolutely present in a moment of expression in media, the presence is the true path(and quite honestly also the only way to find superior channel of living expression as opposed to dead technical rendering).

Once i applied myself with greater consistent fresh awareness, i noticed that character substantiated itself into the work, charged it.

Thank you so much! This was a very interesting piece. The commission was to do a portrait of the patron's wife in my particular style of expression. The patron is the owner of a gallery called the Commerce Gallery in Wichita--and its a nice spiritual commission as they are both people with a worldly vision and a sense of existence beyond the framework of conceptualisms we entrench culturally day to day. The meanings are variable, in this case, some of which haven't yet totally revealed themselves to me. It is funny because after unveiling the piece they remarked that it was very interesting that everything seemed to ultimately point to the north east and that emptiness embodied the southwest--and as a time-map their union and life trajectories have done the same geographically. My take on it is fairly complex--the uppper right hand side is a direction toward distilled awareness, experience, and appreciation. That which is behind her head is of the past and refers to both her, her husband, and a friend's past experience, which sports a lot of character but also has a lot of murk, trauma, and morbidity/darkness. The body is a kind of mass of flesh, as it was channeled it seemed as tho it was speaking dually of the spiritual experience of rising above the sufferings and distractions of the organic body as well as the particular connection most women have to the organic--from menstruation, having children(pregnancy), cultural weight issues, and so on...and here it seems to be sloughing off, revealing on the left side the endoskeleton--the bare bones of mortality and gross physical being. The husband who surrounds her in various ways in the painting, creates mobile structures (sculptor), which is why there is so much reference to wire-like structures and accounts in large part for the rib like parallel features moving out like bone from the body on the lower left side...

i could go on forever on the nigh countless associations which built this image...in the end it all comes down to the basic template of the lotus, or christ/krishna consciousness...that of transcending the suffering of organic and sociological trauma to find peace. In the room, the tendency is for the face to exhibit an expression of pain when seen in association to the background and lower part of the painting, but to express love, joy, etc. when seen in conjunction with the lighter aspects from the mid to upper right side...that the transformative elements of the light occur on many layers.

The "heart chakra flowers" are interesting things...being hydroponically cultivated in test tubes of sorts, the rightmost one flowering into a full bloom with features much like a native american headress...

They are both catholic as well, though it was kind of a shock to find out as they are some of the genuinely nicest and open minded people i've met.

Anyway hope that helps somewhat...there are many aspects i've yet to figure out myself--usually many aspects reveal themselves over time gradually as contexts of the viewer shifts...
