Its an improved version of my old start orb ([link] ) for Windows 7 users, to make their computers live happier, more full lives.I always promised i'd revisit this, and I did.
You need a tool doohickey to change the orb.

Now, its improved from the beta version. It has bevelling (my new passion), as well as a glow and shadow, and is less obtrusive than I felt the original was. It may well look terrible, however i've tested it and I don't think it does. Screenshots and feedback would be maaaarvelloous as always; as I aim to please.

Now with two orbs. One has super MEGA blur and glow, and it's a bit nicer.
The other is for evenings that do not fall under the jurisdiction of friday, and require more austere and respectful detailing.

Whenever I try to make my own, a black square appears around it on mouseover and then fades away. How do I avoid this?

Might be the way you've done your transparency, or maybe the dimensions of the image are wrong. Hard to say without taking a gander.

It's just a .PNG (or .BMP? I forget), so yeah, sure. No big deal.
Making it was pretty simple to begin with, so I'm not fussed about edits.
