Its a start orb for Windows 7 users, to make their computers live happier, more full lives.You need that tool doohickey to change the orb.

Now, its a beta. It may well look terrible and I can't test how the bitmap files translate to IRL looks. Screenshots and feedback would be maaaarvelloous.

Do you mean Kishan Bagaria's start orb changer?
You don't have to use it if you don't want to, although I'd be almost certain you have a false positive (I would take this matter up with Kishan, instead of myself, personally. Given his (her?) prominence, I'm certain they would be interested in making it right).
There are other tools available to do this process for you. I've just recommended the one that I've used in the past successfully.Β

Yeah; that. I still think it's most likely a false positive, it is enormously popular software and would be social suicide to load with malware.Β
If you're still concerned, obviously the point of contact for that is Kishan.Β
For what it's worth, I use that software, hence why I recommend it. As I mentioned before, this should work with any software that performs the same function, I think.

Go to CTRL+J, hit "Recover Malicious File" and then hit "Hurt Me Plenty" when Chrome gets snarky and asks.Β
For what it's worth, you'll get this notice when downloading stuff like uTorrent too. Just a general purpose warning label which power users should disregard.Β
I also encourage you to leverage services like VirusTotal if you feel you are still vulnerable. Or do the process manually if you are concerned about closed-source software:Β www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/β¦ .

IIRC, you can get around it by clicking on 'more information' either on the notification or in the associated entry in CTRL+J, which will take you to a screen which lets you manually bypass that warning.
