Just a little tutorial on textures I wrote. I was painting recently and working on a brick wall. The way I was painting it made me think that I use these ways of creating texture way more often than the more talked about salt wash and alcohol. I thought some might find it helpful.

This is now on my website too: [link]

it's fantastic rebecca i love it !! and i agree with you there is much more technics to be used to create different textures i discovered that myself too, i never had much luck with salt
the blotting thing you do , i love that and i use a sea sponge for that i picked from Michael's
thank you for sharing!!

Thanks! I used to use salt more when I first started using watercolor, but I've stopped using it as much over the years. I guess it was an easy background back then and I've been trying to create more detailed backgrounds in the last few years than I used to. So now, I pretty much only use salt for a base texture and then end up painting over it to further detail the texture, if that makes sense.
