Description
In a poll I made about which tutorial you would like to see from me, water came second - character/etc design was first, but that's a tutorial I'm going to have to think about to decide how best to present it, so I decided to rattle off this one in the meantime.Despite the various tutorials I have (most of them very out of date for my methods and quality of work now) I don't think there's really any way I can tell you HOW to do something. Indeed, it has bothered me when I've seen some people use my tutorials to the letter, because (for instance) the specific lighting I used in my examples didn't fit in with the painting that they were doing, etc. So please just use this tutorial and my other ones to have a look at the method I used for that particular example, and try to extract from them instead some ideas for what to experiment with rather than a set way to do something. Experimentation will work for you far better than any method someone lays out for you set by step!

And I was like: "Okay... Yeah... I can draw that..." And then, I kinda lost track and I was like... "Wait, what? You must've done Magic or something o.o"

This is what I did using this technique: [link]
Far from perfect, but I still like the result as the first try of ever drawing water, and your instructions certainly helped - thank you!

Hey, Richi here. Nice work. I agree with the instances people use tutorials to the LETTER and it has almost no place in the piece they are doing. Kinda funny. Thanks for the tutorial!

A very helpful tutorial. I always wondered how other artists were able to create a natural water look without using so much blue or white in it. And I love in the second part it had more of a rough look of moving water instead of simply being in a constant fluid movement making it look almost like plastic.
All in all a very well made tutorial and very easy to understand. I can't wait to try it out and experiment with it.

This is really amazing! I've never really been sure of the colors and method used in creating a realistic water effect! Now I really want to try this out when I find some free time! Thank you so much for taking the time to put this together!
