Description
I really ought to draw more animals; I had so much fun painting the wolf in this tutorial.Anyway, enjoy. It's quite short, but use it if you think it'll be helpful. Have fun!
Here are the links to my previous tutorials. If this is your first time looking at them, I strongly suggest you go and see, as I explain more about brush sizes and stuff in the hair ones (if memory serves =/):

I feel like an idiot bookmarking all of your hair tutorials. x.x
I'm sick of my art style though, and hoping to break into the digital painting type...these could help transition me there.

ahhhh coooool. I used to just put fur wherever it looked nice. but I see there's a certain natural flow to it.

That is your best tutorial to date (even though I did like your hair tutorials a lot too) It's going to prove very useful to me, providing I ever get my memory upgrade to properly work with photoshop.
A for sure.

The bit about the tufts of hair that point towards the viewer is excellent; most fur-painters neglect that. The fur photos were a nice touch... sorry about the bunny though

I know Poor bunny. It's better that it's rabbit rather than some rare animal, but it's still just as unpleasant.
All the same, I still wear the damned thing.
Anyway - glad you liked the tutorial! Thank you.

HAHA That wolf on the bottom is hilarious. Reminded me of the unicorns in that Candy mountain video in You tube XD
I like that you pointed out the hair layers and the pointy forward hairs. SOOO many people neglect that =>

ToySkunk In reply to jeriweaver [2007-02-05 21:22:08 +0000 UTC]
OH YEAH! Candy Mountain - I forgot about that video.
It's a liopleurodon, Charlie!
The pointy-forward hairs are something that I've always wanted to do (but only really tried and given myself the opportunity to recently) ever since I saw an illustration of a very realistic wolf on the cover of White Fang; with a neck ruff done like that. They make shaggy fur look so much better.
Except... I just thought of a hair/fur type that I haven't covered.
Meet the Komondor. In other words, the Mop:
