Description
Finally finished! the coloring wasn't as difficult as I expected I just had to be patient and keep at it. the real problem was the main body of the shield, its black, but it needs to have some detail right? so after playing with the filters and tools I finally found something that I think works alright, and its still black.anyway, the premise here is similar to that of riot shields used by S.W.A.T. except instead of a taser we have sections of burning wax which can be used to burn the enemy when you bash them with the shield. And of course the shield is made of flame and heat resistant material.
Now I didn't plan on drawing a fire shield it was originally going to be a simple wood shield with a very basic metal cross piece for support... so when I added the fire design and everything... it looks like a burning cross... I didn't plan for it too but it does... there is no intended religious symbolism or significance here at all!!! And I do not support cross burning! please don't send me hate mail...

YOu know, in circus acts, they have these "flaming acts", where they wave around and twirl and juggle flaming objects. They get them to burn by submerging a treated kevlar wick into gasoline, or alchohol, or something like that. This would fit perfectly in those.
This sheild is realistic and awesome looking.
Black and fire always look great.

I mentioned in one of my earlier fire designs that they would be coated in a sticky flammable oil (I don't know what they use in the circus but that's probably the right stuff)
I have a whole set of fire based weapons, and I learned early on that black goes good with the reds and yellows of the fire
THANKS!

"Sticky flammable oil"
That is the basic description of napalm!
And you're welcome.
I just got this idea, what would I fire whip look like? That might be cool looking. The whip itself might be a fuel line with holes in select places, surrounded by burners...I don't know. I think that would be cool.

Well talking about carbon, isn't that element which organic matter is made of. Nevermind I'm well aware that it could be used to cover surface of other materials so they would sustain higher temperature, I just have to tease you and show off
Anyway just some coments on artists work, it looks amazing. I really like efects of flames and everything, but if you want little more realism, you could add some smoke and bluish hue in lower parts of flame
Nice design anyhow ... ahs certain dinamism about it

FIRE.
BURN.
DEFEND.
REPEAT.
Good job on the shield, it looooooks sturdy enough to weather both the beatings and the flame. It honestly looks like some sort of Carbonite material which wouldn't burn due to inorganic and inflammable materials, so essentially the wax would be the only truely hot substance there while the shield being relatively heat-resistant would keep you double-safe.

the handle is on the back and the material is heat resistant so you won't burn yourself if you know what your doing but it's definitely more dangerous then the average shield!

Sweet! This is one heck of a shield, for sure. I like it. The fire effcts are awesome and the little texture job on the black looks great as well. Very fine job you did here, ely!
