Questo metodo di lavoro mi stupisce un po', sembra una fottuta foto che viene scannerizzata da sinistra a destra, lavori direttamente sul dettaglio senza fare passaggi? Cioè senza mai fare prima una mano generale con luci e ombre abbozzate e solo dopo andare a ripassare tutto quanto andando sul particolare..??

Like you, I cannot understand this method of working. I start with a very basic sketch and gradually build up tone then add details at the end. I could never finish one part before moving on to the next - my drawings evolve more-or-less as a whole. This method obviously works amazingly well for Emanuele, but it is a mystery to me!

As someone who used to do a lot of pencil work (though nowhere near the crazy level of this guy), I can say that it's really helpful because you don't smudge as you move along.
