Description
A picture of a friend in my favorite color. I discovered that oil pastels are quite fun.If you do not recognize him, this is Charlie Goddard. He used to be the guitar player for By The Tree.

Hey, you have a talent. Loved both your submissions but I do like the strength of line and shade/tone that comes through with the blue plus the angle of the face. Your facial dimensions look spot on and I love the textures. Keep up the awesome work and use your talent. Wow! Definitely a favourite

Thanks so much. Any fan of blue is a friend of mine.
Blue seemed to fit the mood of this portrait.

Wow this is really amazing! The blue tone looks good, but you still managed to use plenty of variations. It's a great balance. I love the shading on this, it's not easy with pastels to shade like that. The style is awesome, seems to fit the pastels nicely. And it looks just like Charlie.

I'm really amazed by this piece, it's by far my favorite from what i've looked at in your gallery so far. i never put much stock in oil pastels either, but i guess it's all in how you use it. this has a great painterly look, and the difference in the thick lines and darkness in the hair and eyes and the high contrast on his face really make it jump out. i can't really tell what the background is supposed to be, but it's just a small issue i have with an awesome portrait. i don't know if you have plans to continue going in this style and direction with your drawings, but it's working out really well so far. great stuff!

Thanks. I'm not sure if I want to keep going in this style. I did two pieces like this and then moved on........not because I don't like it, just because I got an itch to try something else. I have alot of oil pastels left, so I hope I keep using them, lol! The background is just some building and the street. I blurred it on purpose so that it would just be a background and the focus would be on his face.

Thanks. I was afraid that my color scheme was going to make him look cold or frozen. I think I lucked out.
