Description
This past weekend I participated in the annual Street Painting Festival in my home town. It was 3 days long and multiple artists drew chalk murals on the street. This one is 12' tall. I ran out of time so unfortunately there are some details missing (mostly highlights and shadows). But the message still comes through. There was spray paint and tar drippings right through the middle of my assigned space. Alllllll the way through it. Fortunately I had some tempura paint (chalk and water) and mixed it with a bit of water and plaster of paris. I used that as a primer for my art area, as well as to cover up the tar and spray paint. Then I used grey chalk that was similar to the color of the asphalt to attempt to cover up the areas outside the cross. In this photo it looks a little dark, but in person it actually matched very closely.
It is titled "The Good Person" because most people would say, "I'm a good person". But when you look at God's standards of "good" well all fall short. None of us are truly good. We all need help. We all need Jesus. And Jesus is the only way to God the Father.
I was inspired by this image which was inspired by a painting kazmierczuk found online. I have been unable to track down the original source to give that artist credit.

This is a amazing pictuer. Not only is it a very claver idea but it's a powerful image as well and makes you stop and think. The technique looks really good and I'm glad that this looks more like a painting rather the digitel work as it works much better. the colours are really good and the angle works well. All in all this is a very well done and powerful image and I think you can be very proud of it. May God bless you for this worderful and thought provoking work. Well done and I'll be sure to check out your other pictuers. God bless you.

This picture has a very strong vision. The scripture says that only Christ is the salvation, as you can see, God is above and you can't see him, exactly as in the real life, and only through Jesus, the human sinner can be saved, and that is what is happening, God sent Jesus to save the human.
The human drowing represents the life, because we are sinners by nature, we all are going to suffer and die, and the only way to avoid it, is through Jesus. This is why the human can't climb by itself. The reason for he don't grab Jesus hand easily is that in life, it's not that easy to be saved, you must truly wish to be saved.

Wow, this is amazing! I always liked this kind of street art and have wondered how the artists get it to look three dimensional.

Lots of math and some practice. And searching the internet to see how the professionals do it. Mine isn't totally 3D but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Glad you enjoyed it.

This is awesome! A great example and depiction of what Christ did and is still doing for us.
What is plaster of paris? and How much paint and chalk did you have to purchase to accomplish such a task?

Emberblue In reply to chrillc [2017-06-28 22:19:41 +0000 UTC]
"Plaster of Paris" is a powder that you mix with water to create plaster, for various types of crafts. If a small amount is mixed with water and chalk paint, it helps the paint to stick better.
Well, that is a good question, lol! I was given a box of chalk, of which I only used a few colors...and I already had some...so I don't know exactly how much chalk I used. Next time I should count, it would be interesting to find out.
Thanks for taking the time to comment. Many blessings in Jesus!
