"But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed."
~ Isaiah 53:5

One day it came to my mind to paint this image. At the time I didn't really have any knowledge in painting. I just enjoyed painting. I used some different photos for reference to see how light would reflect off of His body and to get an idea of how his head, arms, and legs would hang. As you can see, the arms are a little longer than they should be, but overall the proportions are close. I do not know what Jesus' face looked like, so I painted Him at this angle with His hair hanging and His face not visible.

This is the only painting I've done that I feel was inspired by God. God put the idea in my head and gave me the talent to do it when I did not know what I was doing.

After painting the last brush stroke I said out loud "It is finished". Then I realized those were the exact words Christ said right before He died. So I thought "It Is Finished" would be an appropriate name for this piece.

Jesus died for you and me, so that we could be forgiven and have a relationship with God. The work is finished. Now He is just waiting for us to accept His gift of forgiveness.
