Description
This is the final version of this:This will be used as a background image for a sermon series on David based on 1 & 2 Samuel. "David a man after God's own heart".
I also have the opportunity to design a DVD case for this once the teaching series is over. That is going to be fun.

This is really well done! I love it! The typography is catchy, and the symbols are all appropriate, not to mention they're all placed together beautifully.
Mind if I ask what kind of process you went through with this? Like, from where it started off in your head to the two pieces you were kind enough to share on deviantArt?

I was inspired by some typography that I saw somewhere (can't remember) that used teal lettering on top of a black & white photo. So I knew I wanted to do that style. Then I thought about what represented the life of David. He was a king, a warrior, a song writer, and in love with God. I picked a font that I thought was cool and might fit the mood I was going for. Then I just experimented with the text and imagery to see what would look good and how they would fit together. Pretty much I typed out the words, moved them around, then drew the icons to fit in the empty spaces. Then I adjusted the darkness of the photo in the background to make sure that the text was easy to read.

Ahhh very nice! I always find finished products to be a little overawe-ing. There's this perception that they appeared in the designer's head just like that and got magically plopped down into reality in minutes. So it's interesting to actually see or hear about the process behind it, and find out about the work that was really involved. And it turned out really well! The font especially was a brilliant choice, the texture makes it more interesting to look at, and plays off everything really well.
And I love typography with a passion! I think the only thing better than reading something cool is reading something that also looks cool. I also happen to be fresh out of school, where I was taking a... multimedia design course, which taught me the fundamentals of many different things
