Description
Inspired by some song lyrics. They actually say "Oh, Lord, I'm like the moon..." I really like the symbolism of the sun & moon paralleled with God & people. These are the lyrics by Ashley Elder and Josh White:"Oh Lord, I'm like the moon
without the sun I hang in darkness too.
So be the light that shines through.
Reflect off me the love that only comes from You.
And it all comes down to this:
A life that loves is blessed.
Jesus I confess
I love Your tenderness.
Oh Lord, wake me up
Please help me stand in Your righteousness
And I know I've been touched
I submit my life to You, I will walk in Your love.
And it all comes down to this:
A life that loves is blessed.
Jesus I confess
I love Your tenderness.
Oh Lord, I'm like the moon
without the sun I hang in darkness too.
So be the light that shines through.
Reflect off me the love that only comes from You."

Very nicely done! And I love how the moon manages to look shiny through the transparent white. It's a really cool touch

Thanks! Β This is kind of an example of apologetics in art (regarding our previous conversation). Creating short typography pieces is my personal way of communicating the truth of God. Β It is eye catching and easy to read, so it's more likely that people will read it.

Yes, and I think it gets the statement across very effectively. I was thinking of apologetics more in the sense of giving reasons for belief is Jesus. That's what I have not seen much of.

Um. I respect the message but the wording is a bit off. I know what you were going for but 'son' and 'sun' are two different words so the message is kinda lost.

Thanks for the feedback. Β I intentionally switched the words. Β Without Jesus (the son of God) we hang in darkness. Β Do you think that if I used the word "sun" that people would know I'm talking about God? Β Just curious. Thanks!

I don't think that would work. Maybe if you could find a different way of executing the idea, since it's not a bad idea all in all. I'm no good with either symbolic or religious things so I can't give any pointers, just thought I should give my opinion on it

Without God you are still a human.
Doesn't being alive and on this world of wonder and mystery count for anything?

Well, being alive doesn't mean we are better than does who are dead. We are still standing here simply by the grace of God.

Of course.. But we still do have all the wonder that God and fate have granted to us.
Not to mention, if God were to take a direct hand in out individual conception and our very ability to live, it would seem that freedom of choice is not real.
If we have freedom to follow our own fates, then with or without God, we still have so much..
God just gives more meaning to all of it.
If you didn't believe in God, would you strive to be a good person for the sake of being good?

Hi, interesting.
I tend to agree with your first sentence sometimes. Wouldn't things still matter? I certainly feel they would sometimes.
However, sentence 2: even if God made us, I don't think it means we don't have free will. God can be the start and sustenance, like parents, that doesn't mean we don't make our own choices.
You last question is poignant. Would I? Yes I suppose so. However, the question of actual goodness haunts me. Would there be real goodness without a basis for moral goodness? Is that basis necessarily God?
Cool thoughts, keep them coming.

I am chill.
I'm simply saying that without God, a person still has value.
Faith in God is wonderful to have, but not if your life has no value or meaning to you past the faith.
What of all the good things you can do, with or without God? We were given free will, choice, and the mental skills to affect our world, faith or not, God or not.
Without God, you are still alive and able to do so many things.
With God, you are alive, able to do so many things, and putting your Faith in it all meaning something once you die.
I am Glad he has Faith in something. I just hope he will also understand the value of his life as well.
The things a person can do in their life can change Heaven and Earth.
