Funny how all other creeds and religions seem to be so widely tolerated, but someone giving their belief on the Christian front is laughed at.
Civility, my friend. Understanding and tolerance. It'll get you far.

Funny how no other creeds and religions have the habit of announcing out loud that they've got answers to all the life problems in everyone's face. This anger has got nothing to do with Christianity, and everything to do with the sort of arrogance that people giving their belief on the Chrisitian front are prone to display.
Honestly. Take a good look at how the other creeds and religions display their beliefs on this site. They praise their deity or core belief, they express their devotion and gratitude, but they stress out how a creed is a personal choice that needs to come from the heart. The Christian front, however? It's filled to the brim with the messages of "all you ever need in life is our creed, our sacred figures and our holy text." Usually presented in a matter that says "if you don't adhere to it, you're a fool" in the subtext. What's so surprising about people getting angry when they're insulted? It's not like people don't tolerate Christianity. They just don't tolerate the Christian superiority complex, the way that a lot of Chrisitan activists claim that "it is our religious creed to look down on everyone else".
Understanding and tolerance, my friend. That's where the problem where it really lies. It's hard to expect it towards people who announce they're not interested in it. If the Christian front really wants to see more tolerance, it should stop shooting itself in the foot each time one of its followers opens their mouth.

You blamed anti-christian sentiment on the creationism on the westboro baptists, then you called me a jackass. Wherein did you provide any advice?
I simply pointed out that they are not the problem, their scripture is. Like it or not, the westboro baptists are true christians, they are following the bible. Unlike modern moderates who pick and choose what they'd like to believe, disregarding the more savage and prejudiced verses.
Would you like to argue against that, or would you rather keep pretending you are smarter than me?

Oh, you poor christians. Every other religion is totally left alone, completely tolerated and respected. But those poor victimized christians, it must be so hard to be a part of the largest religion on earth.
Christianity is laughable, like all supernatural beliefs. And it's made even more laughable when ego-centric tarts like you play victim, as though christians are so disproportionately targeted in modern society. The bible practically rules the world, and still you people find the time to behave like some pack of oppressed, minority, second class citizens the moment anyone pokes a little fun. Pull your heads out of your asses, you simpletons.

Sophillia In reply to PigeonMan6 [2013-08-09 07:35:18 +0000 UTC]
I think any time someone is demonized or belittled for their religion, it's unfortunate. No matter what you believe, or choose not to believe, I will stand by your right to say it and respect your own views. The fact that you can't seem to do the same says more about you than of me. And really, the size of the members of a party really is irrelevant when its non members, for no provoked reason, choose to mock them. Be you Christian, Jew, Muslim, another religion or none of the above, the moment someone treats you as something less is the moment there is an issue. By speaking up, we can stand up for what is right.
I hope you are not so arrogant to think your school of thought is so superior that it deems mine and others to no more than a joke, as I surely would not pin that on you.
π: 0 β©: 1
PigeonMan6 In reply to Sophillia [2013-08-09 07:41:25 +0000 UTC]
No no, I certainly do believe all religions to be bad jokes that refuse to go away. But I simply cannot believe that that belief is more arrogant than the belief that the entirety of physical existence was created for humans, or that the all-powerful creator of the universe listens to our prayers, and may or may not alter his divine plan in accordance with our wishes. That is arrogance.
As for freedom of religion, yes. I support your right to believe in god, and I'll even defend it. But I'll do the same for my right to say what I think of it.
π: 0 β©: 1
Sophillia In reply to PigeonMan6 [2013-08-09 07:46:37 +0000 UTC]
Considering your statement that Christianity is laughable, I find it hard to believe. At any rate it is not arrogant of me to be firmly planted in my beliefs. What is arrogant is to think mine are somehow superior to another's. Β Your freedom to say what you think was never questioned. What you did with that freedom, which was disrespectful, is what I frowned upon. Just because you can doesn't mean you should. Your op was clearly meant to be snarky.
Anyway I hope you give this a think. I'm not trying to be overbearing, or preach a sermon here. But it really rubs me the wrong way when people act like their thoughts are the only non-laughable way of life.Β
π: 0 β©: 1
PigeonMan6 In reply to Sophillia [2013-08-09 07:59:12 +0000 UTC]
Wow, no one has ever accused me of being disrespectful of supernatural beliefs before. Surely I have to rethink my approach and change my ways. Oh thank you, oh bright and glowing beacon of ethical enlightenment.
Also, if you think your beliefs are true, and others beliefs are false, (which is the nature of belief.) then you believe that your beliefs are superior to others based on validity. Your standard of arrogance is unavoidable, as you are guilty of it yourself.
And lastly, simply because I discredit the supernatural does not mean I discredit all dissent. The world is far more expansive than the fantastical guesses of ancient mystics.
π: 0 β©: 1
Sophillia In reply to PigeonMan6 [2013-08-09 16:21:28 +0000 UTC]
I hope you learn that condescension and overall rudeness will get you know where.
My belief is my own and I push it on no one else. True I think it is the real truth, but I am not so omnipotent to thnk that what I believe works for me is any better than anothers.
You've already made it clear how you feel and now you're trying to backtrack. I really hope one day you realize we all live on this earth and everyone deserves not to be laughed at for their thoughts. Have a nice day.
