Hah. By all definitions, this should be a scrap.But too bad! Yeah, there's a lot of Double D drawings tonight. I've been working so hard at trying to draw EDDY better that I've neglected my favorite fucking character! And he's a tricky mother, too.
He's really fun to draw... because he's the most organic looking character of the show. You can push him SO MUCH FURTHER than the others, its ridiculous. And yet... that gives you more oppurtunities to be "off-model."
Sigh. And I'm so PARTICULAR about him--I just wish I could CONSISTENTLY draw him in a way that made me HAPPY!

Yah..Edd is organic...that`s why I`m so good at drawing him. My linestyle is rather organic than ``geometric,`` and I`m not good at drawing sharp, geometric objects. As u say, I`ve also found out that Edd`s head is rather triangleshaped than ``round, his head is more wide than the other two`s. His big chin completes the triangle. His eyes are large, but I`ve learned by myself not to draw them TOO large. They are as large as the other two`s, but his headshape combinated with his eyes makes him cute. Um..yah, and the cute ``wrinkles`` beside his eyes makes him look a bit tired..I love his look. And last, his hair. Long and dark, in harmony with the rest of his look. Yah..and his hat. Large, double white-striped and goofy. I draw him bald with Eddy`s hairstyle sometimes, but that is TOO ugly. I love his black sockhat.
I`m also very fond of his body..it reminds me of a saucer..hehe. Rubbery, squishy..and I love the short , thin legs...um..and his shorts...was that all???^^

Edd has always been my favorite too. I love non-stereotypical intelligent characters.

Heh, heh. That's what I love about him too.. I've often gotten into conversations about how unlike he is the typical "boy genius" you see in other cartoons. Sure, he's smart. But he hasn't got that methodical/strictly logical personality that's as cold and mechanical as the little contraptions he invents. Edd's got this real romantic, naive side to him--when I think of him, the first word I think of isn't anything to do with his intelligence. Its more often a word like "affectionate" or "kind". That sort of thing. He radiates a totally different aura than, lets say... a "Dexter" or a "Jimmy Neutron."
In fact, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw what was supposed to be the final episode of Ed, Edd and Eddy--"Take This Ed and Shove It" and Edd begins talking about what he wants to do in his life. Mentions yearning for "the romantic life of an explorer" and "finding his true inner self."

well, if you think about it, basically ALL the Ed, Edd, and Eddy characters can stretch WAAAAAAAY TOO FAR ^^

True.
But there's something a little... more "lucid" about Double D's design. Eddy's head/face is damn near always a "square"--unless he's like, literally being crushed or something. Similarly with Ed, Ed's face is usually a triangle.
But Double D? Well, when you're just kind of drawing him to his traditional model, his head/face is pretty much a circle with some ovular tendencies. However--it really, really, really doesn't have to be. LoL. I know I actually -learned- to draw him with a triangle. For some reason it just worked for me--helped me place his hat, and ears and such.
I suspect that it may be his HAT that allows him to be so amorphic. Since it more or less never changes--and its SO identifiable--it sometimes doesn't -matter- what shape is going on underneath it... cuz its going to end up being "Double D" somehow..
Heh, heh... Its really, really weird. But that's what I LOVE about it...

Hehee, his expressions often go underappreciated, but I always found him just eccentric as Ed with his poses (no one does a better 'wtf' expression
