So, after having seen the broadway musical Wicked in Auckland's Civic Theatre last October and having liked it so much, I decided to watch Disney's Oz: The Great and Powerful for the first time (I hadn't seen it before since I wasn't all that fussed about The Wizard of Oz) soon after. This piece was completed shortly after that and sat forgotten in my pictures folder until just now.


I was inspired by the implied backstory between Glinda's family and who would later become the evil sisters. It got me wondering how such a pure and kindred soul like Glinda would feel about Theodora, who once appeared so innocent, becoming hard-hearted so quickly. This is the result of that thought. Here Glinda seeks out Theodora at her castle (or Kiamo Ko for those Wicked fans out there ) to tell her that she doesn't blame her and tries to convince her to return to the Emerald City and the path off goodness.

I cannot say I have seen the broadway musical Wicked; although I have heard of it. I really loved the film Oz: The Great and Powerful though. And, I am a fan of the other Oz movies, with Dorothy in them. A brilliant tribute to the musical and film. And, I like the story behind, your inspiration. After all, poor Theodora was tricked into becoming wicked, in the film.  I liked the good version. And, I always hope that people can change, if they have the right people around them. So, nice scene!

Thanks! If you are a fan of other media surrounding the Wizard of Oz and the like, then I do recomment Wicked. If you're a keen reader then there is a book series if you cannot make it to see the broadway musical somewhere.

Oooh, I'm on such a Wicked-streak at the mo, and I will never forgive myself that I missed it while I was in Auckland... But I might be able to see it in London this fall.
I like how you contrasted the two women (facial features like the nose being different) and didn't make Elphaba overly beautiful.

Wicked is strangely addicting. If you do get the chance to see it in London I'd definitely recommend doing so. It was a great show in Auckland, and the theatre was beautiful, but London would be even better I'd imagine.

Thanks! The Wicked Witch wasn't overly beautiful in the film, and it was interesting how Raimi and Disney did her exaggerated facial features. I was trying to portray those.
