Here's my first colored pencil tutorial.Because a lot of people are asking me to do a tutorial of this media.
Here's some of my tips for colored pencil.
1. Always keep your pencil sharp.
2. Find some paper to place your hand on when coloring, This can prevent your hand from smudging colors on your artwork.

Here's something I forgot to include in my tutorial. : x
1. I used Faber Castel. Colleen. Staedtler student colored pencil.
2. I used Light Brown [wax based] for drawing original lineart.
3 Copy paper and Printer paper are the same.
4. If you don't have white gel pen, You can use white postercolor or gouache instead.

Do use also use artist grade pencil? If so what brand are they?

I only used student colored pencil on this picture, But I also have artist colored pencils, My favorite brands are Caran D'ache and Faber Castell.

So how much money have you spent on them?

Student colored pencil = $20
Artist colored pencil = about $500
But Student colored pencil can produce good picture as artist grade If you know how to use them properly.

Awesome! Since I have problem in colouring, this can help me. My friend says that we should colour our drawing by following the light direction, is it right?

How many pencils were in your set?

I have 12-24-36-48-60-120 colors sets.[difference brands]
But I like using 36 and 48

I rarely use them.
Because they are hard to blend large area of color, and also expensive.

Did you crosshatch? I'm a bit confused.
At the very beginning, the two different textures, which was which?

Left* place textured cover under paper when coloring
Right* No textured cover
And I used various hatching techniques.

It will make the picture looks softer.

i tried your technique still need work on trying to shade but all else was good

I got the standard set of prismalo watercolors. Its really hard to mix them to get the right skin-tone.

Urhmm...can suggest any other colors to use for coloring the skin,other than Naple Yellow and Reddish Orange? Preferably colors that has a similar effect/tone.
