Character lineup for my new idea for a webcomic, "The Substitutes," a story about three roommates who accidentally acquire powerful magical weapons destined for someone else, three heroes who fall from grace, and the chaos that has brought both of their worlds together.

The Cast:

The Knight - Out for fame and glory, one might say that The Knight takes this "heroing" business very seriously, if he ever took anything seriously.

The Mage - Though from a family of diplomats and spiritualists, The Mage greatly prefers a more "hands-on" approach when dealing with life and its many conflicts.

The Engineer - With very little patience for anything outside of his own creations, The Engineer could be charming if he wanted, but finds it's not worth the effort.

Freddie - Armed with a rapidly deteriorating fine arts degree, bubbly smile, and love of pastels, Freddie's stint as the new Knight is getting in the way of her desire to live a "carefree black girl" life.

Emilio - In the nebulous stage of post-grad but pre-career, barista Emilio wants nothing more than direction in life, though becoming the new Mage may be more direction than he intended.

Bianca - A little rough around the edges, when not bartending or playing bass in the band Princex Peach, Bianca is trying to figure out how her role as the new Engineer fits into her already overbooked life.

Dave - Owner of the Mugshot Cafe where Emilio works, local celebrity, and kind of a blowhard, Dave considers himself an expert in just about everything.
