Description My first tutorial goes a little more in depth. You might want to refer to this: [link]

But I hope this helps, too! This is for the lots of you who wanted something with how to do stuff on Photoshop...This covers both PS and CW.

The file is huuuuuuuuuuuuuge. This took forever to do x_X;

Enjoy!

EDIT: Thank you, for bringing this to my attention but you can find the Tokyopop template if you Google "mechspec5"...She says, "The second link, a pdf file, has the template at the bottom of it"
Now please stop asking me where it is XD;;

I'm actually publishing a PDF book this February which will be available to download. It'll answer many questions people have about creating webcomics, so keep an eye out

This is very useful!
although, I do have one question;
where did you get your template? I've been looking for one with a ruler like the one you're using, but i can't seem to find one of good quality... Dx

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

enchantma In reply to EverAbandoned [2010-07-23 22:25:58 +0000 UTC]

You don't need a template Most manga paper comes with rulers on the sides of the page, but that's just to keep things straight and to keep art within the printing guides. You just need to focus on working at a 2:3 ratio, which is the standard comic size.

GuardianKitsune In reply to ??? [2010-01-14 06:36:12 +0000 UTC]

OMG! Thank youuuuu! I've been wanting to do a comic for like 2 years but I always wondered how the pages size should be and this is a great tut! Even though I don't think I will publish anything now I want to keep a standard size, more organized for me. And thanks for the link, I printed the template. I do have one question though (sorry). If I'm doing a comic all digital, what size should the page be?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

enchantma In reply to GuardianKitsune [2010-01-14 06:58:15 +0000 UTC]

Hey! Thanks for reading my tutorial
Well page size is up to you. If you're publishing it online make sure it's not too big. I like to shrink my pages down to 6" x 9" at 72 dpi. I feel like it's the perfect size.
If you do plan on printing the comic, check out which sizes the people you plan to print it with offer.
Oh, and the cool thing about 6" x 9" is that it's printable size for both online and paper. But keep the page a high dpi for paper and small dpi for web.
Hope that helps! Good luck!

SosseJASON In reply to ??? [2009-12-31 20:11:06 +0000 UTC]

Good tutorial! I want to make my own manga, but I don't have any inking-tools. Instead, I've got "Manga Markers". These simulate a brush and I've got different greyscales. But I've got a question: Can't I just draw every panel, background etc. on single pages and use the PC to adjust everything and lay it over? On that way I would be able to draw more details, since I don't have to "squeez" everything on a single page by hand.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

enchantma In reply to SosseJASON [2010-01-01 03:39:07 +0000 UTC]

Haha, it shouldn't be "squeezing"...That's what storyboarding in advance is for--to make sure everything that you want to show on a page lays out nicely. There's really no rule to comic-making...you can make simple panels if it effectively tells a story. If you're just starting out I'd recommend that you get in the habit of story boards and planning and creating dynamic layouts by hand. But it's up to you really, as long as you tell the story well---that's really what matters most of all.
