Hi! Sorry for the late response! I have been super busy with work, barely getting on here or painting much lately Thank you very much for featuring my painting! I love that one as well, although I have been meaning to go back and try to polish it up some more.
I am doing good, hope all is well with you as well!! Have a great weekend!

Theirs is one of my favorite stories within the series. I'm about to start book 6 and I must say this is a wonderful depiction.Β

It's about time someone created a piece with these two! If there's anyone who could tame Nynaeve, and knock her stubborn pride down a few notches, it's Lan. <3

To be honest I am surprised I have not really seen any Nynaeve and Lan paintings together! I never even thought about it when I made this until you just mentioned it. Seemed like a logical and natural painting topic lol...

It does! Granted, Nynaeve isn't exactly a social butterfly, but her relationship with Lan is a cental piece of who she is (She'll never admit that. Thank you, Moiraine. :3) Β and deserves some of the spotlight too. Hell, I may do one now. You've inspired me. x.X

You have a wonderful grasp of color and light, even if your anatomy could use a little practice. Somehow, I've never been able to create a single truly satisfactory WoT work. I envy you.

Thank you very much! I think we are always our own worst critics. You have some really nice WoT fanart. The learning process never ends so I am always practicing and reading books/watching tutorials Just keep at it and eventually you will be more satisfied with your work. For me, I get satisfaction when others appreciate my paintings....I always think I could have done better when I am done

I would wager that all artists are familiar with that feeling. As for learning, I tend to just observe other much better artists and then attempt to emulate them. xD Quite funny how every artist has a vastly different approach.

Watching other artists is really good to try and pick up different techniques and learn different styles. However, it is important to find your own style/way of doing things...whatever feels natural and comfortable to you. At the end of the day, only time and practice will improve your abilities as an artist so it makes sense to do it your own way versus trying to mimic what others are doing. This is something I have learned the hard way. I tried to always emulate other artists and got really frustrated when I wasn't comfortable or capable of reproducing their style.Β

jkhrkhsdkjgksdfg LET ME LOVE YOU!!!
The thing I love THE most here are colors and that streak of light! It's just perfect! Nynaeve's braid is so pretty, totally different than I saw in other arts and I love it! Lan is really manly, I like it! But I love how the light shines on his sword, it's interesting.
The only thing I DO have problems with are their silhouettes, mostly I have problem with Lan's. He's one of the tallest guys in the series and is pretty bulky, which is he not here, especially considering Nynaeve is one of the shortest women in WoT and really slim. He's just too small xD

You may love me! lol
Thanks a lot for the compliment. Yera, I had her tiptoeing in the stages and then ended up making her dress flow all the way down. I definitely mess up the height difference that should exist between both of them.

I was just checking my DeviantArt and saw that you've uploaded a load of art.
Sooooo, where will I start? I can tell you, as you may have already noticed, that I love all of them. I also agree with Elbow3 that the lighting would be a bit different on Lan's shirt, but I'm ok with Nynaeves sash. Personal preference I guess ^^ In my opinion the lighting situation (I hope thit is correct English xD) is very appropiate for the situation you want to show us. Awww, you just catch any situation you are painting in a very suitable way. Also I love the lightdots which could be leaves in my opinion

Thank you very much for the kind words!! Sorry I took so long to respond...I have been so busy with work. I was experimenting and this was the result lol. I am glad you liked it even thought it is a rushed and unpolished painting. I will probably revisit it in the future for some touch up

Another nice one!
The light & dark is nice, but it still needs a little work - with the light behind them, Nynaeve's sash wouldn't stand out so much, and Lan's shirt would look a bit different. Β Not a big deal, it still looks lovely!Β
Hate to be blunt about it, but Lan looks as if he has a breast on the right side.
Lastly, Nynaeve's arm is a little too long and thin. Β As a general rule, the upper arm should be the about the length of her head (some say a head and a half), but it's hard to tell in this case, since we only really see her hair. Β Again, it's not that big a deal! Β However, I feel that she would have more of an arm - remember this lady grew up on a farm and could swing a switch!
Β Other than that - s'all good! I look forward to seeing the next one!

Thanks a lot for the critique! All very true and valid points that you bring up. I am most especially bothered by her really thin arm and the moobs on Lan
I honestly didn't think this painting would catch any views because it is rough and unpolished. Perhaps I need to do it due diligence and go back to the drawing board to clean it up
I appreciate the support and honest feedback. I would never improve if I did not have the occasional reality check

No problem! I normally feel quite bad about criticizing someone else's work, so please don't take any offense if I ever say anything too bluntly! Β Ultimately, it's your decision how to finish things, and when to leave something alone.
I look forward to seeing anything else you have up your sleeve!

I will never take offense over constructive criticism. Being blunt about something isn't a bad thing, sometimes it is just better to skip beating around the bush. As long as I am not being insulted and I am actually being helped I can hardly find a reason to be offended

I feel it was his mystery, that he could not be cracked perhaps made him interesting for Nynaeve to poke at, so to speak. She had met no one else even remotely like him before.

I think it was more that he respected her abilities as a wisdom on her own, even at her young age, while he had an aes sedai bonded to him. She began to actually "look" at Lan as a person when she realized he was looking at her as a person. He reminded her of her father. Most women fall for men who remind them of their fathers. I thought that little nuance in the storyline was wonderfully written in and is one of my favorites.

I had her tip toeing in the stages...but I ended up making her skirt flow all the way down because I thought it was prettier. So for the sake of accuracy just imagine her feet are still tip toed
