Keep going over the same layer in weird directions. Took me awhile to figure out though xD

Photoshop. I use 6.0, but it'd work well enough with any of them, I suppose.

Press "alt", and click the paint bucket. That'll bring up the gradients. Then, on the drop-down box, it's the first one in the third row, called "Spectrum".
