Description Death is something humans have feared since the beginning of time. It is an unstoppable force; it has no cure and gives no notice.
It affects all of nature: the earth, our landscapes, trees, animals, and of course, humanity. Death is something that we all deal with, yet so many of us see it as this coarse, undeniably cursed sentence.

There can be beauty found in death, for it often brings life. The decay of animals and plants add nutrients to the soil which replenish the earth and allow what is still living to continue.

Pain brings knowledge, for with horrible situations we find our mistakes and faults, which prepare us for the future.

Fear not death, for it is only a beginning.

I wanted to go for a combination of Salvadore Dali, Georgia O'Keefe, and Frida Khalo. I'm not sure if I achieved that, but I do like the results so that's all that matters.

GOD at the stock I used on this...

Thank you all!

If there's something on here that you think might not be covered in this, please let me know because I used so much on this I may have overlooked something.

And no, I didn't steal the feathers. That's one of my personal brushes.

I spent about a week on this... probably 30 hours or so... so people better freakin' comment.

An interesting piece. It's got this almost nightmare quality... like a dream, but with a slightly creepy mood. I think it's because everything in the pic looks so symbolic. Nice job!

Definately Dali. I love the emotion in this. Death is a natural part of life itself--so much depth!! I love your take on life--you have a really strong stand on your beliefs; I admire that. Excellent piece, my friend.

Yes that cool if you want to go ahead and make your piece a print!
Nice job too, I love the papery effect with the birds over the top, very freaky composition too!

Outrospective [2005-10-20 11:21:44 +0000 UTC]

The concept itself is very intresting & strong, I must say however you to tend to get lost in the image...it is far too busy and the background is too out of focus or pixelated it's hard to tell. Nonetheless, an intresting piece

The background is supposed to be out of focus.

Where do you come up with this stuff?

I like it.
It's not my taste but it's a good piece of work.
The guy on the wheelchair makes me uneasy though.
How in the hell did you get him to look like he's sitting on there?

That's deep. And very beautiful (Sorry, I LOVE THAT EMOTICON ;_

I like the somewhat 2d background, it really works well here and enforces the kind of stage feel to the picture. The blending on it was done really well too, malthough a more smudeged section near the skeleton man/women's foot/leg would make it look better. The scars and such are positioned and blended well on the ballarina and look very realistic. And you chose good stock
