Description
Me and my make-shift light table again. This one isn't completed (still have an entire sweeping movement after the shocked face to complete), it's still very rough and needs some more inbetweens for better flow. This is just the start. But I thought I'd share the wip since it has been a while. Gah! Yes, sorry guys.
I was watching some demo reels then tutorials for animation on youtube and came across one made in photoshop, I was amazed by his technique of making each frame exceedingly different from the last and thus creating a very fast and expressive animation. I'm testing it out in this. I thought of this character when looking up "Nocturna" stuff [link]
Again, help is welcomed, but go easy on me XD This is my third animation attempt, I've never gone to animation school and I'm a tender hearted soul. ♥

Daawwww, really? Thanks, much! The surprised pause was leading into an incredulous stare, hopefully one day soon I'll be able to get my animating cap on again to sort out the hiccups and finish it up :>

How were you able to upload a pencil test animation on DA? I've tried doing it but it won't let me.

I have to save it as a gif file in order to upload it since a movie file is only for those who pay the fee for the film side of DA. Hope that helps? :>

Thank you very much!
You should give it a shot if you like it! You never know where your drive may take you. If you've got the gumption, use it~ ;D I had the benefit of learning a bit of morphing animation back in highschool, but that kind of stuff can be learned online, too. And all the tutorials on youtube are so helpful!

It's not only pretty, but it's clean. I'd love to see longer animation tests.
Say, why don't you build an actual light table? they're not that hard to do. (well, the ones that can rotate are, but a simple tracing table with a peg bar is dead simple.

@_____@;; oh my! Thank you! Gak. I'm a slight bit obsessive when it comes to the end result of my drawings, whether animation frames or not. But I'm getting better, being less clean-freaky most of the time now. More sketchy.
How? That sounds fabulous, but I'm a little short on materials and space. Up until this point I've simply used a glass coffee table with a light underneath. When that got a bit hard to work with, I took a clear plastic plack that I use for drawing on and prop it up with books. ah XD

Well, if you ever want to get crafty, here are some real fine plans for a light table:

this one's a bit more complicated:

Another option:

The best part (specially on the first one) is that you can get everything cut at home depot, no need for complicated tools.
For peg bars: It's best if you actually paste acrylic cut cilinders (they can be pasted using chlorophorm and a Srynge. Wear a mask if you do this) that conform to a simple hole puncher. Peg bars can also be

You amaze me, this is astonishing for a third attempt. Very nice!
I've just begun to try my own hand at 2D pencil animation, using photoshop, and all that. If you have any advice for me, an aspiring Animator, I would be most grateful.

Thank you so much. I have so much yet to learn.... X'D
Have you? That must be exciting! It's challenging, to be sure, but very rewarding when it comes together. I, unfortunately, never went into schooling for it, so I'd shoot myself before considering myself worthy to pass on advice. But what I found incredibly helpful was surfing youtube's endless selection of animation reels. I studied them tirelessly, pinpoint what may have made an animation not effective and what may have made a successful animation effective. But also, they can teach you much about attention to movement motion and expressiveness that mere words can not. XD

My first one will be choppy, I can tell already. I've started watching some of the YouTube videos to educate myself [plus watching lots of Anime to study the animation.]
I don't know if you'll be interested in this or not, but the third book DVD of Avatar the Last Airbender has, in the special features, a pencil test animation. It's mind-blowing and is totally worth checking out.

I'm not sure if I already commented in this piece so forgive me if I did OTL I always think hand drawn animations are really tough and take quite a lot of effort. Kudos for trying it! I do agree a little more frames would do to help make it smoother
overall I think it looks good hehe!
hehee! hope you'll show us the final product if you decide to finish this~
