This walk through is great, I love how you colour so it's nice to see how you do it! (I should try using textures too). I don't see how you think that sketch is "gross" if I managed to sketch something like that I'd be estatic! xDDDD

when you say you "drop all layers," do you mean you hide them or delete them?

In Painter, it flattens the image, merging all layers into the background one. If you're in Photoshop, you can choose to merge layers with each other without having them dropped to the background, which can be really useful...

I have no idea how to "paint" but if I get the urge to spend 7 hours trying to figure out how, this will be very helpful. xD

That's awesome.. For some reason i can never quite get the hang of big time art programs.. It's all too confusing for me, even with tutorials.. So i stick to my good ole roots: MS PAINT! YEAH! I do almost 95% of all my computer colorings with Paint... Maybe that's the problem, i'm too used to lame programs to try tougher ones.. :/
But whatev.. If i ever get Photoshop and get the hang of it, i'll make sure to come back to this..

You just made me really want Painter!
It seems like they have nice tools there. -sigh-
Nice walk-through, though.
So, you actually keep your sketch and paint over it? Did I read that right?
I tend to paint underneath it and then delete it.

Yeah, I don't really like painting under sketches. As I said, it confuses me, because having the sketch layered on top of my drawing makes some parts seem darker than they are, gives the impression that I have definition where I don't (e.g. the jawline), and I usually end up tracing them onto the layer beneath anyways. It's much easier for me to use them as sort of a preliminary shading, and go from there.
