Another space apocalypse. A poor planet shattered by a comet shower, or maybe some extraterrestrial force?Made in Blender+Photoshop. Hope you like it!

Of course this also reminds the final effect when in star wars the Death Star destroy some planet.....and indeed you could develop this concept to create something of similar....PErsonally i don't know works where there is an huge battle ship destroying a planet...and around DA is full of images ready or complete or ready to be modified as we want..........and you could fix this lack easily thanks the concept of this work!

not my favorite way to go though LOL, you don't even get to witness the spectacle unless you manage to escape to space beforehand.

True but it might be painless and almost instantaneous if it comes from the direction of the sun. A more incredible sight would be to have a rogue gas giant planet swallow up Earth whole. It would be as if the Earth never existed. Have you ever painted such a thing? We would probably be able to see the planet approach but things would get interesting once it bears down on us.

Great job on this one, I personally find it interesting that you left out the part where the comet clashes to focus on the outgoing explosion, something for the viewer's imagination to work out. Also very nice work on the shattering parts...

Just to clarify, the tutorial I watched was on how to explode a coffee cup using a blender plugin. So there was at least a little effort involved on my part by applying what I learned to something else.
Actually, the blender tutorials aren't that boring at all, it's just the software that is a true nightmare to learn.
Vue definitely seems interesting. I know it is great for landscapes, so it might be a good thing to get into to step up your matte paintings. The reason I started studying blender was that I wanted to learn how animations work and blender seems to be a pretty versatile tool overall. But eventually I realized there was a whole new world to learn first before I could get into the business of animating things.

But yeah I used to know Blender until 3.0 when they changed the whole interface, I couldn't be arsed to re-learn. :s But probably should some time, free powerful software is to be taken advantage of.
