Description
This is my contribution to this year's Desktopography collection. You can download various different sizes of this wallpaper here: www.desktopography.net/exhibit…
As the title suggests the idea behind this work is to depict what it would be like to explore a nebula firsthand.
Nebulae can form for instance as remnants of supernovae and are known to be made up of various types of gas clouds. The nebula closest to Earth at the moment is the Orion nebula. But with more than a thousand lightyears distance to Earth it is very unlikely that we will ever be able to witness this spectacle of nature in this manner for ourselves. Unfortunately!
I thank wolfworx and dmaland for the excellent resources!
This is also included in my new Space Art calendar 2015, check it out

I'm a big fan of astronomy and cosmic physics your piece and many others bring my love of the stars in illustrative form. Thanks for this.

Glad you like it! It's not super realistic actually because (I believe) in reality the clouds wouldn't look that interesting up close. But what would be the fun in that

few works are able to make me vibrate like an iphone...and this is one..This happens thanks to the interesting perspective and lighting...u worked a lot on that sun light!
Im learning space works because you know, they absolutely are not easy!
i love the visual dynamism created by the perspective....enhanced also by the falling asteroids.
i haven't open space work relative to this topic...first or after i'd like create something like this.
Of course im saving this piece to learn this global visual

I like the space ships with the engines that are in a triangle shape, that's really nice. They kinda look like those jacks in the ball and jacks game, that's really cool.
